Any ideas on increasing the torque on a 1974 472 without raising the powerband or spending tons of money?

Your best bet is to increase air flow.......port the heads, larger valves and aftermarket intake.

What's done to the car so far? If it's stock, open up the intake and exhaust first.

Thanks for the ideas. will porting the heads and going to edlebrocks intake raise the powerband? I need low rpm torque.

It could! Get the right cam for the kind of driving that you want to do!

Have you contacted cad500parts.com (Flashcraft) or MTS (maximum torque specialties) ? If you havent, do. They will steer you right.
