View Full Version : at least you don't have to buy gas here Steelhead Jess 04-10-06, 05:42 PM Hey all,
In currently in Japan (Nagano) on buisness. On my way to work yesterday I passed a gas station that had regular unleaded for 144 yen/liter.
My math puts that at about $5.25 per gallon....ouch!
Needless to say, you don't see many escalades running around here. Don't see many American vehicles at all for that matter.
anyway....hey DLE, could you watch for my lade around town with a gaggle of chicks in it? I left the old lady the keys and I'm starting to think that wasn't the best idea I've had. Hey all,

Hey man! Hope you're having fun over there.
Bring back a Skyline R34 for me, will ya???
As for your Escalade, I think I saw your wife drive past me yesterday, with about 5 other chicks in the car, with their heads out the window and sunroof yelling and screaming! I think they were leaving a club and having a blast with your truck man. :histeric: :histeric:
J/K!
But if I do see it, i'll let ya know. AWF_AXIS 04-10-06, 06:05 PM If you happen to get to Tokyo for a day or two, go to Roppongi or Ginza. This is where all the "high-rollers" hang out. Friday's in particular. In Ginza, down any side streets off the main drag, you'll see plenty of foreign (to Japan) vehicles that won't even fit down many roads in the outer areas of Japan.
The Mercedes, Rovers, Navis and Escalades are the status symbols. Seen quite a few over there last year.
Look down the side streets, but don't go bar hopping. These are all "hostess" clubs, where women come with the drinks, and the drinks will run $50-$100 a pop.

Not gonna make Tokoyo this trip. Made it two trips ago and did check out ginza. Saw really nice 65 chevelle. Definately drew a crowd.
As for the "hostess" bars....I don't know anything about them  madeinalaska 04-12-06, 04:31 AM Bring back a Skyline R34 for me, will ya???
One of my good friends I am stationed with her in WA has a R34 AND a R35. The R35 is priced at $86K. He is selling the R34 for $36K and I think he has a bite.
BBBAAADDD ass cars. Im not a big fun of the rice rockets, but those arent rice rockets. Those are amazing pieces of engineering. I lived in Switzerland for 3 years, I was paying that back when gas was 1.50 a gallon here. :( One of my good friends I am stationed with her in WA has a R34 AND a R35. The R35 is priced at $86K. I dont call those Skylines rice rockets. Those cars are badass. Of course, I dont see any driving around my area, but at car shows, yes. And with the AWD, those things are awesome.
The only thing about them is, its hard as hell to get parts. If it breaks down, it will take forever to get parts shipped to you. Hey Jess,
When do you get back from Japan? Steelhead Jess 04-12-06, 07:14 PM Hey Jess,
When do you get back from Japan?
Saturday morning....and it can't happen soon enough. I we do is work hard and drink harder. :crybaby: Surfer-Dude 04-13-06, 01:12 PM Not gonna make Tokoyo this trip. They are snatching up everything from muscle cars to old Exotics (like the LP Countach etc) like crazy.
Actually I'm suprised you didn't see many American cars there. Don't they consider Buick over there to be godly LOL?? They hold Buick in the same regard that we do for say Lexus (i.e. top quality, reliable etc). Alexs EXT 04-18-06, 06:53 AM And I thought $3.35/gal was bad Hetiloak 04-20-06, 04:31 PM Try the gas in the uk, just about to touch $1.75 a liter. Had my 02 AWD converted to run on LPG.........75 cents a liter is easier to stomach madeinalaska 04-20-06, 08:01 PM I dont call those Skylines rice rockets. Those cars are badass. The beauty of the AWD in those things is its electric, so you call pull a fuse and VOILA! RWD. The R35 my coworker has was just legalized this week and one of the very few/last to be legalized. After $15 grand, he's rocking a Skyline around in the U.S. pushing over 600 RWHP. It defines the term Badass. And it's a smoke color, too!
Here's a shot of the Supra I have been rippin around in lately...Hate to own one in Japan, considering it gets worse gas mileage then my escalade.

And let me tell you how much the WA roads SUCK for this car...except the backcountry farm roads...145 mph before decided I should watch for cattle and tractors. What a rush, man... | |
