My dad need my escalade for the weekend b/c he needed the third row of seats, so he gave me his 05 ext...

now my question is... i noticed when washing it, the rear compartments drip water like crazy after you dry it... i opened the compartments thought i got all the water out, then i drove to the mall at there we're water spots all over the sides... its crazy and b/c the truck is black raven it looks bad!!! so ext owners is there a technique you use when you wash, so you don't have water marks all over the rear fenders from the compartments...

on my current lade, i am use to water dripping from the front mirrors and from the cady emblem on the back, but i was suprised by how much drips out of the exts compartments even after i opened them up at dried them... also i was suprised by how much water leaks into the bed by the tailgate... oh and i hand washed the truck of course... not a car wash

hcvone- i hope you have some techniques, i am sure some of your customers have exts!!!

I have an 04 Avalanche that does the same thing. The only way i can remedy it is to open and close the doors several times while drying, open and close that little storage thing in back several times, open and close the back tailgate also.

That should get most of the water out. If you have to, you could drive down the road for about a mile or so and then get out and run over it with a towel real quick.

I got a hint from another guy to use a leaf blower. He said before you dry it, blow it with a leaf blower and then come back and dry it. Doing that it doesnt take as long to dry and you get all of the water out of the cracks.

I ordered a 4HP vaccuum/blower combination ($180) but it hasnt arrived yet. When it does, i will try it and let you know how it works.

I have a Black raven ext, that I hand wash at home as well. I just use my compressor to blow out the mirrors, bed covers and side rails. I have a home water conditioner system so it really doesn't leave hard water stains. The compressed air is just a precaution.

hmmm... i open and slam the compartments a lot but it still doesn't seem to help that much, even though I dry them out with a microfiber towel, multiple times... i am really stumped by these water spots

I just pressure wash mine (just dont set it too high though), and then do a nice soapy, rinse it off, chamois it, and wax/polish.

But next time, do what I do, After I wash the entire thing and begin chamoising, I pop the hood, drop the tailgate, and open the rear compartments, gas cap, and all the doors so I can dry those areas too otherwise the wind will grab the water and take it out onto you're spotless truck and make it spotted
