On a '99 Deville, how much, in total, would you think all the expenses would come to for a head gasket job? I get a mechanics discount on parts from my dealer and my son's friend can bring it to his automotive trade school and do the job without any labor cost. It needs an alternator and I probably would have to buy a timesert kit but I could always sell it after the job. Also I would give the kid at least $100. just for getting us in. How much, being realistic, do you think my total out of pocket would be?

There was a thread a month or two back that listed all the parts, numbers and prices. I didn't save it though.

I'll estimate gaskets at $300 or less depending on how many you change and what discount you get. Timesert seperate from that.
