I own a 88 brougham and am having some issue wish shakes and stuttering after running the engine hard.. for example being on the freeway is fine but after i get off its runs rough and studders alot at slower speeds.. It never is a problem if i dont push it hard.

I also have a few other questions about assorted things but this one concerns me the most. any suggestions? If I have my carb rebuilt what should i consider a reasonable price to have it done?

I have already since I purchased the car had:
the radiator replaced
Resurfaced the heads and intake
replaced heater core
full engine flush
full tuneup

Sounds like your TCC is failing. Meaning that once you gotten your car over 45mph and then slowed down the overdrive is locking up when it should not.

Read this site(http://www.montecarloss.com/TCC_Solenoid.html#Definition (http://www.montecarloss.com/TCC_Solenoid.html#Definition))
cause your problem is a very common problem and if you searched the forums you will see your symptons you have are shared amongest all of us.

Pls use the search button. Reoccuring posts of the same problems or
same symptons is waste of space

Sounds like what my 89 was doing. What i did was unplug the lock up converter and its been running just fine since then .

definitely sounds like the TCC soleniod. not a terrible job to do yourself, but it will take you some time and if you do not have a drain plug in your transmission, you will get quite dirty.

What would be a reasonable charge for this repair?
