Hey guys,

When I bought my 2002 Escalade here, these two pieces on the console was broken (due to previous owner's kids)...

The top part 'cover' where the cigarette lighter goes, is broken off. And the 'seek' up/down button is also broken....

Anyways, I went to the GM/Escalade dealership yesterday and had my oil changed. I asked the service/parts guy if he had this part. He said that part cannot be replaced and that if I want that fixed, I will have to order a whole new console, which was like $700 to $800!!! Thats crazy.

Anyways, I was wondering, do ANY of you guys know if he might be wrong and that the pieces can be replaced?? Or am I shit outta luck and have to find a whole new console?

It doesnt really bother me, but for a $30K truck, I want it to look nice and no broken parts if you know what I mean??

I found this picture on ebay. Looks like the radio control part can be interchangeable. So maybe I can find one to buy cheap and replace it to fix the 'seek' broken button.

Now for this pic, the lighter cover is broken. Well, mine is broken just like this one in this picture, except mine is the other side. Can that piece be replaced??

I do not know about that console, but I had a button on the steering wheel replaced. The volume up and down buttom was chipping away and they replaced that button under warranty.

Yup. You have to replace the whole thing if you want those little doors fixed. I had 4 Playstation2 outlets (2 under each door) and they broke one of them off when breaking into my truck. Insurance considered it comprehensive and gave me money for replacement of the entire console. Well actually, Cadillac sells just the back part to the console which you may want to consider buying instead.

well, no one uses that lighter socket for anything back there anyways, so I think I might just superglue the cover back on and leave it at that. :thumbsup:

That was my idea. I figure I still have one that works so oh well.

Guys... 40 bucks for the latch... Don't buy the whole thing... I bought both covers and the dealership for about 86 dollars...

Now... If anyone can help me with the rubber bumpers that go there... I would really appreciate it.

I had the little flip up thingy for the lighter fixed when it broke off on mine... the dealer said it was a common problem and had the little lighter doors in stock... best part no charge! thank you mr gm warranty person!!!

I think I have the part numbers somewhere..just e-mail me, I'll look for 'em... you can buy them individually.. I got them from the denali trucks forum, or the avalanche forum,...

here's what I got, but remember, it's for the 2001/2002 type, and it came of a denali console, but they should be the same........HOWEVER, take it with your VIN to the dealer, for a cross comparison, and color match, etc.. the numbers MAY have been superceded, but any dealer with a half decent parts department will show it... dont' worry about prices, that was a loooooong time ago..i think the rear covers were somewhere between 20-40 bucks...
