I want to find more power w/ out a supercharger or turbo. Has anyone swapped in a LS6 cam?:stirpot: I know the LQ9 heads flow the same as LS6 but the engine has a 1/2 point lower compression. The camshafts between the 2 are like night & day. My guess would be a 40-60 HP increase:thumbsup: w/ cam & valve spring swap. More w/ headers & cat back I'm sure.

But how would the cam designed for the LS6 handle that much more weight. Plus isn't the LS6 block aluminum and the LQ9 block iron?

The camshaft journals are the same diameter & the torque peak on the LS6 is only 400 rpm higher than the LQ9. I was just throwing this out there to see if anyone has done this. Another thing the Camaro & Firebird guys use the cast iron 6.0 block in very high horsepower applications because the aluminum 5.7 block can't handle as much. The exception would be the C5R 7.0L alum block which is a super high $$$$$$ exotic race block.
I come from the old school of no tech where you swap out cams, intakes, carburetors & gears to make a vehicle perform.

It can be done, but you would have to do the heads too, that would probably get you pretty close to the hp figures you listed, with air intake, exhaust and computer tuning. You can get your truck running good with long tube headers, exhaust, air intake and computer tuning even without a cam. :)
