How many people have asked you where you got your dent in the side of your Lade? In about 4 weeks, I have had 3 people ask me where I got the dent in between the front and rear doors. Anyone else?

That is soooo freakin hilarious, because when my wife and I went out shopping for an Escalade, she came up to the first one we saw and said, oh shoot, this one has a huge dent right here. I walked over to the other side and saw that it has it too. :histeric:

Very funny. A while ago someone on the forum was talking about this exact topic. I believe the person who was talking about it worked at a dealership and a customer came through looking to buy an Escalade and asked why the one he was looking at had a dent. He told them that he ran around hitting all the Escalade's in the same spot with a hammer or something. He showed the potential buyer all the other 20 Escalade's on the lot that he took the hammer to as well. Haha. I was on the ground laughing when I read that thread. Anyways, this has happened to me way too many times. I have had friends, family, and strangers point it out. I sometimes even play along and start screaming like I don't know. Haha.

Thanks.

It was a thread I posted back in Jan. and Stoney was the one who commented. He comes up with some funny things. Here is my original thread. http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-escalade-ext-esv-forum/61724-how-many-times.html

I've been asked too. I guess the "dent" was the best design. :bigroll:

I never had someone asked me about that. But, my mother told me a few times that the door didn't appear to shut all the way. So, she kept on slamming the door several times

I just had my 03 delivered on Tuesday...

1st thing my wife asked... "is that a dent?" :coffee:

A few people have told me that too... the first time someone said it, they said, "Man, there is a huuuuge dent on your passenger side." I think I sharted in my pants and ran to the truck as if I needed to escape a meteor strike just to discover there was no dent besides the factory created side-collision dent on both sides. One day someone is going to tell me there is a dent, and I'm going to ignore it just to find out that someone actually bashed my truck with a ball peen hammer. With the ball side. Hard. Twice.

Yeah everyone gets that I bet.
The best part is, on my 'lade I have a chip right on the "dent" so it looks like someone hit my car with a hammer or something of the sort. Gotta get that repainted, but it still won't solve the "Damn ,that's a nasty dent' problem

Escalades are now known as the "dent" truck. :histeric: :histeric:

Next time I go to the GM/Escalade dealership, i'm gonna ask them, do you have any "dent" trucks in stock for me to see. :histeric::histeric:

I did some research and found that the concept 2002 Escalade was getting shown to some high ranking GM employees when it was first made and during the process of moving the Escalade to the showroom for the preview, the movers dented one side and decided to just dent the other side as well to make it look normal and like nothing happened. The dent was on the truck during the inspection from the GM employees and it was approved. The Escalade was then mass produced with a dent in the door. This should end the reason of why there is a "dent" in the Escalade. Haha. Actually, I have no idea why it's there, but it's fun to think that this is why.

Thanks.

Thanks.heh, pretty creative...just guessing, but by the look of it it's to give enough clearance to open the rear doors all the way without smashing the extruded panels. but i like your explanation much better- think i'll use it next time someone asks:bouncy:

I'm going to start telling people it is a pickup point. You can pick the entire vehicle up with a crane by grabbing it in it's center of gravity point.

Ha ha that's a good one. I have a feeling we're going to be seeing some other explanations, time to think of one.

My friend just said to me that if I told people that GM saved millions by leaving that piece of cladding off, people would believe me.

Next time my neighbors little kids ride thier bike anywhere NEAR my Escalade, i'm gonna go to their dad and say.

"Dude!, one of your kids handle bars hit the side of my truck! Look at the dent!" This is when he might sh*t on himself. :histeric:

Then i'll just say, give me $300 cash, and we'll call it even.

What a good way/scam to make money.
