Hello Everyone,
I am sorry for bringing this topic up again, and I know it has been discussed here numerous times. I am really debating between 23's and 24's. My concern regarding 24's is the braking and harsh roads issue. I live in Baltimore and this area has some of the worst streets.
My question is will I have to upgrade my brakes if I get 24's and is it a good idea being that my truck is a daily driver on bad streets?
I have read that if you upgrade the brakes then your stock wheels won't fit anymore. Is this true?
Will 23's look too small, is 1 inch reallly noticable?

I was on the fence as well once... I used to have 24's and I can tell you this...
#1 I do not think that there will be a huge difference in braking on 23's vs 24's
#2 I do not think there will be a big difference in ride quality between the two 24's in my opinion do not ride that bad at all.
#3 23 Inch tires from what I hear are somewhat hard to get... the biggest time that this would really matter is if you get a flat with 23's it may take a while to find a tire.
#4 There is not near as good of a wheel selection with 23's
All and all if you are going big I feel like you may as well go with 24's I was debatable on it and went with 24's and really had no complaints although 6 months later I ran into an issue with my company buying out my escalade so I am having to drop down to factory 22's for an appearance look. If I was in the market to buy any size for my escalade though I would chose 24's no doubt!
Blacklac02,
Upgrading brakes is not a must with 24's. You will notice a slight increase in braking distance due to the size/weight of the wheels though. The same is also true for 23" wheels. I suggest you get the wheeels and then decide if you need to upgrade your brakes.
I suggest that you get 24's for one reason, the availability of 23" tires. Most local shops (depending on where you are) don't really carry 23" tires, b/c most people either do 22's or 24's. On top of that, there are tons of companies who make 24" tires...so if you have a problem you can easily pick up a new tire. Only a few companies make 23" tires, and those companies don't seem to be making anymore. Why...supply and demand. The demand isn't there so, they don't supply the market with the tires.
Go with 24's, you'll be happy you did.

I just bought 24s for my '02 lade and love it! I agree with what the other guys says. 23 inch tires are hard to find, so you might as well go with 24s.
Plus the 24s looks big and gets lots of attention.
Also, people exaggerate wayyy too much about upgrading the brakes right away. It's not a must. I put on 24s, and so far, its not that much of a difference. I will admit, there is a slight difference in braking, but not a whole lot.
But if you do upgrade to 24s, just make sure when you drive to give at least 1 or 2 car length in front of you just to be on the safe side. NO TAILGATING!!!
ALSO, if you do plan on pulling a trailer with a boat or toy hauler etc, then yes, I do recommend on upgrading the brakes. I dont pull/haul anything (just my daily driving truck) to get back and forth to work, so I dont worry about it.
But I will upgrade it someday when I have the extra money. Just not needed right away.
Also, my 24s are not that bad on the roads at all. From going from 17s stock to 24s, I think I only lose about 20% of the ride quality. Not that much in MY opinion. Although, I havent lowered my truck yet and is still riding stock height.
