View Full Version : Tint Question... TheCaddyKidd 04-05-06, 02:59 AM I have been trying to figure if I want to tint my windows on my ext or not.. i have had tint on all of my previous cars but didnt really want to worry with the cops and all with the escalade... my question is i remember a tint that made the window look foggy and blurred but i cant seem to find it anywhere on the web.. just wondering if anyone knows what it is called... thanks for any input. Just tint it, and if cops pull you over - tough. Take the ticket in and get it signed off, then go get it retinted. Don't let haters ruin how you roll. I had all my Suburban's and my Escalade side windows tinted, never had a problem, as long as the tinting is not so deep that they can not see in at all, or the tinting is not that mirror crap they should not bother you. :) 99escalademan 04-05-06, 08:35 AM I had my old front passenger windows at 20%. Its 50% here in mn for the fronts. It never became an issue other than when i got pulled over for speeding. They wobnt stop you just cause they think your tint is too dark. Here in my area, they pulled me over for my tint. But like I said in another thread, the guy was probably bored off his @ss and looking for someone to mess with. I was sh!t talking while he was writing up my ticket and haven't been bothered by him since. I can't even get a look from him when I pass him or drive near him.
Never had problems before that and I agree, its probably more common you'll get a fix it in the case that you get pulled over for something else, and not so common to being pulled over for just tint being too dark. How dark did you tint your windows? jrs05caddyext 04-05-06, 09:42 AM Don't do that man.

:yeah: Blacklac02 04-05-06, 11:25 AM They can't pull you over here in Baltimore just for your tint anymore. You have to have another violation before they can write you a citation for your tint. brett79 04-05-06, 12:11 PM They can't pull you over here in Baltimore just for your tint anymore. It is called titanium tint. A friend of mine has this tint on his windshield of his Toureug so that the cops do not realize it is tinted. It just looks like a big glare from the sun when you look at his windshield. The tint, however, does affect any antennas mounted on the windshield. Due to the titanium in the tint, many antennas or radar detectors are blocked and do not work very well. It looks great though. Good luck.
Thanks. Sinisterj 04-05-06, 12:44 PM It is called titanium tint. A friend of mine has this tint on his windshield of his Toureug so that the cops do not realize it is tinted. Just for anyone in the future as a tip....
If you have a BMW with IDrive NEVER get a titanium tint! Your NAV, SAT Radio etc WILL NOT WORK! Sorry to get off topic...
Just a Tip! :elvis2: I plan on just doing 20% all way around on my lade pretty soon here. That looks good enough for me.
I got a ticket like 4 yrs ago with 15% tint on my old pos truck. It was a $70 ticket. I was told from the cop to take a pic of the tint on my truck, and take an "after" pic of my truck with the tint off (removed). Then take those pics to court and they will drop it.
Indeed, they did drop it, but the judge also says to not let him see me end up at court for another year because of tinted windows, or it WILL be on my record. Nasty Black Lac 04-05-06, 02:29 PM I plan on just doing 20% all way around on my lade pretty soon here. That looks good enough for me.
I just did 20% all the way around. I would do the same EXCEPT I would tint the front 2 at 5% (so it matches the rears). brett79 04-05-06, 02:42 PM Brett, I stay in Woodlawn. Not too far from the city. Where is Caton? College Park?
No Canton is right in the City. It's like 2 miles (or less) from the harbor. |
