Well, by now we all know how to remove our door panels and deaden our doors. I'll add to that with another 60sqft of RAAMmat, but the twist is the Ensolite i used this time
http://www.raamaudio.com/
Following the very simple procedure of: rip out the damn plastic crap.

Deaden fully (man i did a crappy job before)

After about 15ft

Apply Ensolite using very sticky spray adhesive.

Reapply door bits and pieces :)

I did not take pics, but I concentrated some time around the side view mirrors. There's actually a large gap between mirror bottom and door, which leads to 2 large holes inside the door that rain/wind/crap can get in. Don’t believe me? Remove your door panel, there were 2 leaves, dirt, rain spots, and dust inside. Removing the mirrors I covered the holes and gap from the outside and inside with several layers of mat, then of course Ensolite’d the interior (behind the “triangle”).

Cost: $150
Weight: 20lbs
Time: 10 hours
Wounds: several
Beers: 3
Difficulty: 3
PITA Factor: 4
Do it again? Hell yeah. Every time you deaden, you get more results. That damn wind HOWL from my “front” (which I suspected was from around the mirror) is way down. WAY. I deadened my A-pillar so much the trim panel barely fits. This was my LAST ditch effort to knock down wind noise. Can’t deaden the windows.
I suspect I will cut down on rain intrusion. Of course never cover your door drain holes. Do use Ensolite to replace the crappy plastic. It knocks down road noise well, too.

My own personal "deadener showdown":

Dynamat Xtreme. $100 for 38ft. Sticks like a MOTHER. Damn aluminum layer cuts like an x-acto knife. Every piece I had placed before was perfectly still stuck.
RAAMmat. Do NOT pay full price. Join http://www.scionlife.com/ forums and get 20% off and shipping at cost. This stuff is STICKY. It was 93 out today, it literally welded itself onto the metal, and other deadener. I can guaranty it will never come off. Every piece i had placed before was still perfect. Never once cut myself on this stuff either.
Damplifier Pro. Expensive as all hell. Does NOT stick well. Every piece i had placed before was coming up at the edges. Not recommended.
Dynamat original, or "plain". Absolute CRAP. I had some I got free. Every piece had fallen off. 100% failure.

Edge: RAAMmat. I swear by it now. Trouble is I need 2 more rolls for all i still have planned to do :p

Urby, the letter V in the Cadillac world stands for Velocity, not quiet as a Vault.

Will you be tossing the cat-back exhaust and putting turn downs on your headers because you can't hear it run anymore?

I hate to bash it, but RAAMmat is not on the same level as Dynamat Extreme. Although cheaper and similar initial results, it does not do the Cadi justice. I used a ton of RAAMmat in my Explorer and when I pulled the panels back off about 6 months after the initial install half of it was peeling off and brittle. A few months back I used a few boxes of Dynamat Extreme on the V and the results were astonishingly better. I pulled a panel to check it out recently and its still soft and holding like no other. Just thought I'd mention it if you're on the fence about cost vs performance in sound deadening solutions.

Urby,

You crack me up bro.:) That things going to be a rolling sound deadened machine. My deamplifier pro is coming up in certain areas also. I think it works fine on flat surfaces but that's it. It DOES NOT stick like the Dynamat Extreme though. I would have paid the extra money for the Extreme now if I had to do my car over again. Fortunately that is what I did all my doors with so they are fine. One of these days I'll pull the carpet again and check my floorboards. I'd sure hate to have to rip it all up and redo it.

Urb,you psycho.Looks good. Our doors look very similar,on my doors I put the stuff in all of the recessed areas and rolled it over the large openings.I wanted to do more with the hole where the door lock linkage is.The ensolite has to be better than the plastic on the doors. If anybody wants a pic of mine for comparison, just ask.Did you notice a difference when you removed the plastic behind the speakers?

.Did you notice a difference when you removed the plastic behind the speakers?can't say for sure the speakers sound better, i'll listen more today. but the wind noise is gone (side view mirror area), road noise knocked down (which is worse with RSAs than PS2s).

I just bought 100sq ft of Dynamat extreme for $99 on Ebay. Maybe put some dynamat over the speakers to reduce the noise?

Robert,

You do know that auction is for B-Quiet and not Dynamat Extreme???? They are totally different. I've used B-quiet in the past and it doesn't stick all that well.
