I was looking for my mystery rattle the other day, and while I was under the car I noticed that the crossover pipe had been put there for looks only - it's not welded all the way around and when I shined a light in it it was pretty obvious the main pipes did not have holes for the crossover in them. The car came with the exhause, so it's not something I ever really looked at closely before now. It's sounding like the clank is coming from inside the crossover, so it's coming off next weekend. My question is, is it worth the money to have holes cut in the main pipes and have a real crossover welded in? I don't really know much about them.

Thanks!

Haha that's really funny.

About the crossover, I'm not sure on how much it would cost but they would have to drop the pipes and all so that they could cut and weld all the way around. Probably too much.

Yeah, it is pretty funny. The last owner did a bunch of stupid stuff to the car in the 2000 miles he drove it though, so it doesn't surprise me that much. I can live without a crossover.

maybe its to prevent the pipes from bouncing around? i can't believe someone would go through the hassle of a fake xover.
