Okay so today I got a message from someone named Sheryl on myspace:

I was like WTF she doesn't even have the girl she's talking about as a friend. I clicked the add friend button just out of curiosity to who it would take me to. I was like "man she looks slutty"... So I then began formulating my reply.

"Well Sheryl, I am not stupid. If you want to gain any credibility with me, you will first have to prove to me that YOU are in fact human and not some computer program. I mean c-mon, look at your profile. You have no picture, no friends (not even the person you directed me to), and no modifications to your page, which suggests to me that something is not right. I read her blog, supposedly about me, but I realised that you could have sent this same message to 40,000,000 other guys out there and they too would think it's about them.

So now I ask you: What's up? Is there some kind of marketing scheme going on here? I suppose that the girl you sent me to is probably working at a porno site and she will eventually want me to subscribe to see her. Is that right? I've seen it happen here before.

You see, I am a member of three internet forums, two of which I have a combined 40 posts, and I've been a member on one of them longer than I've been here. Cadillacforums is the only forum in which I've accumulated any real number of posts, so you can only imagine the time I wouldn't spend on Myspace: just a waste of my time for me if you understand what I mean.

In the beginning of course you are on it making your page look nice, and trying to find long lost friends, but after it all dies down you really only treat it as like an e-mail account lol. I only go on myspace to check messages, and to check bulletins (which are jokes, surveys, etc.). It's not all that time consuming unless you are on there for dating purposes and you are going through tons of profiles.... I love myspace because I found friends that I otherwise would've never seen or heard from again. It helps a lot of people keep in touch in a fun way!

thanks! yeah i am getting it tinted also... forgot to mention that! hopefully the tint and the CAI will be on by the time i get to Florida (although i doubt it). CAI should be but i am not sure about the tint.

i never got pics of my Fleetwood up when she was juiced. had pics of when she just came out of paint (which they screwed up and i was going to get it re-painted just three days after the wreck). and that was it. wish i would have though. i am looking for another big body to juice, damn they are hard to find around here. took me two years to get that one. i still get teary eyed when i think about it.

Myspace has been good to me. I've found a lot of old friends, and met a lot of new ones. Plus the message boards there are always interesting.

Ehh...in all honsety, I'm not a big fan of myspce. Most of my friends all have crazy wacked out pages with backround having five million different colors in them, with white lettering over it (pure genious I might add). Mine, is still teh same basic white and blue or whatever...I guess it's that I just don't care....

I'm well past the age limit where MySpace seems like a 'cool thing', my problem with it is how many kids with pages there link directly to my funny picture pages and send my bandwidth through the roof. The other day I was looking at link stats and I found about 3 dozen pages from MySpace.com linking directly to the HareNet...

I don't mind them using the pictures, but they need to download the picture and upload it to MySpace, instead of hotlinking to my site. This is like hooking your electric to the neighbor's meter.


I won't get in to the visual things, since so much of that is subjective, but for anyone contemplating a MySpage page, a few hints:

1) Fixed background images and scrolling text are bad.
2) Light colored text on light backgrounds is bad.
3) Dark text on dark backgrounds is bad.
4) Look at your page on someone else's monitor, at a different resolution to see how the 'public' sees your page.

Jim, looks like it's time to do some creative phhoto changes on your site. If you want to be nice, change the linked pics to something like: If you like my pics, then host them on your "myspace" instead of stealing my bandwidth. If you're not inclined to be "nice" then get a pic of some ugly biker-type throwing the bird & post that in place of the linked pics.

That's what I always think of when I see other people's pages. How poorly designed some of them are. Mine is simple compared to most, it gets the interesting info across without all the distraction.

To everyone with myspace... I do not want to hear what shitty music you like. If you want to have it on your page anyway, set it up so it doesn't play automatically. I hate that, and I always close the page when someones page has autoplay enabled on any embedded media.
