Okay... I am 50/50 on the sub placement in my EXT.. I really like the look of having them behind the seats attached to the midgate as the probox has them, however the idea of losing the midgate function and window storage is a little downfall.. given that I will probably never put the midgate down or remove the window there is the chance that one day I will need to... i then was thinking of putting the subs under the seats.. my question here is what is everyones personal opion on the placement.. behind the seats attached to the midgate or under the rear seats... and also if anyone has them under the rear seats has anyone had any complaints from passengers.. given that most girls will not complain about a vibration under their.. any way jsut wondering cuz i know if i had 500+ watts of bass under my ass it might be annoying... any input is greatly appreciated..

lol. I would go with a full custom box since I dont use it as a truck anyways. It really just depends if you use you EXTs bed or not.

like i said.. 90% of the time i will probably never use it but then you get the days like today that i had to put tires on the back of it.. so i want to keep the bed the size it is now with the seats up.. but i dont know if i want to lose the function of flipping down the seats... i think im going to do a box under the seats as it seems to be alot cheaper.. they are asking like 750 for the probox begind the seats and like 120 shipped for the underseat box... plus withthe box behind the seats you have to go shallow subs and they give you like earthquake subs which i never really heard of.. i would rather stay with jl audio...

I have an EXT too. I didn't know that you would have to give up the midgate function for the subs. I would just put them under the rear seats, provided that they can be folded flat.

That is another thing to consider. Will the subs under the rear seats not get in the way when you fold them?

Mine is still stock, but no plans for anything else right now. I heard that the factory subs are in the center console for the EXTs. Maybe put a better one there instead?

Correct. All the 2003+ Escalade model's had the stock subs placed in the center console.

Thanks.

CaddyKidd, One thing to remember if you go with the JL Audio you will have to upgrade your alternator. I have the 2 10inchW7 and a model 1000/1 and a 450/4 channel amps and I'm having a lot of problems with the batteries dropping below 11 volts, But thanks to meade916 I got a good price on the alternator and I'm hoping it will be here this week.

I have this sub box - http://www.supercrewsound.com/shop/detail/11/104.htm

I am using an Image Dynamics 10" IDQ sub http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com/products_page.php?id=idq&type=sub

I am feeding it 580 watts with this JBL amp http://www.jbl.com/car/products/product_detail.aspx?prod=GTO601.1%20II&cat=AMP&ser=GTS&language=ENG&country=US&region=USA, as I have the sub wired for 2 ohms. The amp is located on top of the lower part of the down firing box, all of which sit under the middle seat. It is a very tight fit, but if placed properly, yes, you can fully close and latch the seat.

They are very good quality subs, and unless you are looking to play bass at window breaking, hearing loss levels, the 10" sounds excellent in that box. One of the reasons is that the sub is designed to work well in small enclusures (.35 to .70 cubic feet), and has a mounting depth of only 5.25". I researched a lot about great subs with low mounting depths, and am not dissapointed with the IDQ at all. Depending on the recording that you are listening too, and the bass/treble/EQ settings, this setup puts out some very big/loud bass, including good low note extension. I listen to everything from Metal to Rap to Jazz Fusion, and am very pleased.
