Oddly enough, I like the CTS, I like the SRX, love the XLR and Escalade, but I don't really like this design. It doesn't say STS to me at all...it says CTS with a slightly longer wheelbase. Back in 98, the newly restyled Seville was the only Caddy at the time that I liked, and then they brought out some awesome new designs...but for some reason I thought the new STS would be at least a little bit different than the CTS. Oh well...maybe it will grow on me :(

I like it so far but I will wait to see more before I really decide. Now I would love to see more creases on it but I like it so far. I will have to wait for more pictures in real life poses.

that looks like the same pic, flipped w/ a background.

i still prefer the look of the 98+seville, and 2000+ deville (mainly the sts/dts's)

Looks like a slightly larger CTS clone. Hope Caddie hasn't digressed to a one look vehicle. The Seville must continue to be there benchmark peformance sedan!

If you look real closely, it almost appears as if it has the same design as the Cadillac SRX; compare and see... but the words that interest me the most the new STS are... (together)

Northstar 4.6l V8 and All Wheel Drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bouncy: :bouncy: :coolgleam :bighead: :yup:

Not impressed at all and actually somewhat disappointed. I think it will have alot of progressive and awesome new features, but it doesnt MOVE me the way the 92-2004 STS's did,and thats important. Both of those cars still get my full respect every time one drives by, they are just unique and it looks for now, like they always will be. In my opinion, THIS look is what the next DTS should be because of the vertical headlights and slab sided proportions which match up with the current car, the STS is an inherently HORIZONTAL headlight and front end car from the beginning! This will be great for anyone who currently owns a 98+ because I can tell you most of the general public will never associate this redesign to the current car, thereby giving the current one a much longer lifespan of appeal.

Its like the Lutz czars gave the Caddy engineers just enough rope to develop the CTS look and then yanked it away from them, forcing them to develop everything else off that basic design, which is very very good, just not UNIVERSALLY good. We'll see how she turns out in person and in the hands of her first owners, I might end up really warming up to it.

I think you have see in person and sit in before making a decision
The silver colour is also doing nothing from me.
I think trucks look better in silver (gray) than caddies do.

Oh yea use your mind and picture it in black with after market 18 inch wheel....sweet! I am starting to feel it now.

Beautiful design and impressive option list.

Decisions, Decisions, do I get the CTS-V now or wait for the STS-V later.

Boy, that is a disappointment. I will have to see it in person, but what a huge mistake it looks like. I had seen spy shots of a "new" STS about 4-5 months ago in one of the car magazines, and that design really looked great. But this new one looks nothing like it. Hopefully the performance makes up for the looks . . .

I have a 98 STS, and I prefer the looks of my car much more than this new one. There are several issues. Front end is bland, sides are slab, the wheel design is unoriginal (yes, it does match my STS), the tires are too narrow and the wheels need to be pushed outward more.

I really don't know why anyone would have expected the STS to look like the Cadillac 16! We all told everyone it would not and Cadillac said that the Seville would have the basic form of the SRX except not wagon like.

I think it is reserved and a nice looking car. Is it edgy and bold like the CTS? No. Though I love the CTS this car will apeal to those that don't like it's edges. The wheels look big this time and the inside looks sweet. The option list is very good so I see no reason why this car will not do well if Cadillac prices it correctly 42-58K.

I don't know why anyone would be disappointed with this design. I felt that the Seville was a pretty weak model in Caddy's strengthenning line-up, and they made it fit right in. If the Seville looks this good, I can't wait to see what the Deville is going to look like.

My love for the Seville started with the Allante. This was a statement when this car came out. Then low and behold, along came the 4 door version, The Seville. I fell in love with this the first day it was born. Muscle, looks and class all in one and room for the family or the rest of the foursome. The change in 98 did upset me a bit. It took a while and it grew on me. As a matter of fact I finally bought one. A 2001 STS. The design of these 3 models of Cadillac are timeless. They all still look like a class car. Might have gone a little too much European on design, but there are still some 20 year old Mercs amd BMW's that still look classy. These Cadillacs, Alante and Sevilles are still class cars and will be for many years. They are timeless. The new STS is no match in design to these. If you have one, hold onto it. I think Cadillac has made a huge mistake in marketing. All of us who have one of these classics are not looking for change. They may think there is a market out there for us to replace our cars...... not. LOL. As for a new market, the newbees can have it.

I hear what you're saying, Rickster. But you just can't deny that what they're doing is "right". Sort of like my old favorite band, Metallica. I hate them now. But if they didn't change into what they are - they'd be working at the local grocery store. But, no - they're still filling stadiums and selling records like crazy.. The same goes for Cadillac.. While this new design doesn't attract ALL of us, they're selling more now than ever. They're about to become what they once were many years ago. This didn't happen during the years of our favorite models/designs - it's happening now...

Sigh... Sal is right... It may not please all of us, but it WILL raise the bottom line, and the world class perception of Cadillac.

Its kind of like this movie I saw tonight called The Cooler, Alec Baldwins character tries against all common sense to keep his Casino, the Shangri La, from being modernized because he thinks the most modern Casinos are a joke. The Casino as it is however makes almost nothing and in the end, the inevitable change takes place and the Casino takes off, even if its in a most gruesome way.

I have to give a third nod to those comments. I loved the 98 STS when it came out and I remember hearing many say "It looks like a Japanese car", "It is not muscular like the previous model" and such. But as time has passed people really like it and see the logic in the design. I feel what the problem is is that we all had these really high hopes in our mind and so what ever they delivered would never live up to what we had in store mentally.

The more I look at the new STS and picture it in a darker color the more I see that it will be quite a classy car. I sold my 98 STS because I can not stand FWD and now that has been solved.

Also I remember when I first saw the CTS I was like...UMMMM I'm not sure. But a month later I was one of its biggest fans. Thing is I have started out liking the STS more than I did the CTS.

Any chance you know if the 2005 sts will have 17 in wheels . Also any guess on trunk capacity. My 03 STS is 15.7 cu ft so I hope 05 is not smaller. Concerned as I plan on ordering one but would sure like some specs first. Hope to see it at NY auto show in Apr.

Yes it will have 17 inch wheels standard and optional 18's....Oh yea!!!
I have no info on the trunk size just the interior dimensions, but you can trust it will at least match the current car.

No word yet on pricing but I would expect something comparable to the SRX with similar options.

What the heck are those little ports you see on all German cars and that I am now seeing on the bumper of this STS? I am so tempted to pry them off all the time, and I suppose I could take mine off too but I always forget to do so. Are they computer connections, bumper bolting points or what?

Well on Euro cars it is usually the head light washers. They pop up and spray the headlights. Thing is in that STS picture there is only one if you really look because those two picture are the same just flipped.

So I think in the Cadillac's case it is the radar sensor for the adaptive cruise control. It has to have it in front some where and it is not located in the lower air dam like the XLR so.....that’s what I am assuming.

However (LOL) I have been told that it is a place for the car to be pulled out of a ditch or something so damage would not be done by hooking chains underneath.

after watching the video of the 05 sts it looks to me that it will be a bigger cts clone. if that is still the case after the N.Y auto show then i'll stick with the used 98-04 models until I can get a used 05 for under $40,000.

I look at those wide rocker panels/sills on the STS and wonder if
people will compalain about them messing up their pants legs like they did with the SRX.
Kind of a wide step over, especially for short people.
Valid criticism.

PLAYDRV4ME- those ports you see on luxo german cars are headlight washers if there on the front. the ones you find on the bottom of both sides of a car are the ports for the crank for the built in tire jacks. I really don't see what that one port is gonna be on the 05 sts since it's almost in the middle of the bumper.

I thought the same thing but looked around and it is true that it is a place for the car to be pulled. In case it goes in a ditch or something. Under that cover is a place for it to be hooded up. I also found this on a few other German makes and I had never noticed it before.
