ok guys so i looked at some rims on the 'Show Your Ride" message and got some good ideas. I was looking for a good set of rims that didnt look too flashy but didnt look stock either. i found thse for a good price but... im not sure on the tire size.

GB-5 (18x7.5 - 5x114.3 - 45 - HL)

I want them to be 18s and most places recommend 235/40 - 18s tires but i want to go a little bigger on the tires ,i dont want to lose tires every week!! so from recommendations i want to get Toyo Proxes S/T but in either of these sizes:255/50 -18 or 255/55 -18. does anyone have any experience on if thses will be too big for the car or the rims? thanks for the help!!!

The wheels will fit but those tires won't. The largest that should be on the CTS for 18's are 245/45-18. The sizes that you listed have diameters that are too big for the wheels wells. The width of the tires is also too much for the wheel you posted.

Thanks Mbai2 for the info. this sucks because ive seen some 245/45s on 18s and they leave a HUGE wheelwell opening!!! i looked online and cant find anything bigger than 45 on 245s - the next size over is 255. do you know of any 245/55s or 245/50s that have been used on 18's on a CTS?? thanks!!

Here's mine with 245/45-18 and Hotchkis lowering springs.

Here it is at stock ride height:

Personally, I think 245/45R18's are perfect on a CTS, especially after lowering it an inch. This is the stock CTS-V size and that's the meanest CTS made. Here's mine with them.

Goddamskippy,

The wheel and tire combination you are tyring to put together is not going to work correctly. You must consider the width of the tire and width of the wheels when choosing a wheel upgrade. The two need to compliment each other. A 18x7.5 wheels with a 245 or 255 tire width will look akward. The narrow wheel will compress the wide tire and produce a look that you will not be happy with. The widest tire I would use on those wheels is a 235 millimeters wide.

It seems that you would like to fill the gap b/w your tire and the fender. I suggest you look at 18x8.5 wheels or 18x8. These wheels will allow you to run wider tires and help you accomplish your goal of filling your gap.

I would be more than happy to help you in your wheel search if you would like.

Also,225/50s will have almost identical sidewall as 245/45s.

thanks guys. So if i was to get 18x8 or 18x8.5 what size tire would be best?? I guess i'd lower the car with springs but then does the car have the same up/down travel? also will the 18x8 or the 18x8.5s rub when turning??

I would go with 245/45s in either case.

If you go with correct offset there will be no rubbing. CTSV wheels are 18X8.5 and the offset is IIRC 42mm.
