I was looking for something in the online manuals at mygmlink.com, and I saw this:

https://www.mygmlink.com/images/US/en/gm/gm_bdy_recalls.gif https://www.mygmlink.com/images/US/en/gm/gm_bdy_yellowtriangle.gif A recall has been issued for your vehicle. (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/../forums)

When I drilled down to find out what was the problem, all that I could find was the Recall ID number, and link to a pdf file to explain the problem. However, all that was in the linked file was "no info, please call your dealer."

https://www.mygmlink.com/pdf/go2content/recallletter/US/en/notavailable.pdf

I pressed the Blue Button and called my "OnStar Advisor" and they could find no information about it. Said they would check and call me back on Monday.

Does anybody know what this is about?

Call the dealership and have a Service Advisor punch in your VIN. Much quicker than waiting on OnStar.

Okay ... I'll give that a shot. But I really hate being on "ignore."

I'll post back with the answer, when I get one.

I just called. It is a software update for the computer.

I got through to the dealer as well. They said it was just issued yesterday, and it only affected vehicles with North* engines.

They were a bit vague on details, as they did not have too many. But I can confirm it is a software update to the ECM. Something to do with improving the onboard diagnostics with the purge canister solenoid.

He could not answer why it was a recall rather than a TSB.

It's a software enhancement for the ECM.
GM is rolling out a new type of bulletin for use called a "Product Enhancement Bulletin" and it applies primarily to vehicles still in stock.
It's nothing urgent, Here is a copy of some info on this bulletin.

SUBJECT: ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM SOFTWARE UPGRADE - OBD SYSTEM
IMPROVEMENTS (REPROGRAM ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM))
MODELS: 2005-06 CADILLAC XLR, SRX AND STS MODEL VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH
4.6L V8 (RPO LH2 – VIN A) ENGINE
PURPOSE
This bulletin provides information about installing new Engine Control Module (ECM) software
and calibration on certain 2005-06 Cadillac XLR, SRX and STS model vehicles, equipped with a
4.6L V8 (RPO LH2 – VIN A) engine. The revised calibration includes OBD system
improvements that affect the canister purge solenoid (CPS) diagnostics. Install the new
calibration and software on all affected vehicles identified in this bulletin as soon as practical,
including vehicles in new dealer inventory and any vehicles that return for service, for any
reason, during the applicable 8 year/80,000 mile (130,000 km) emission controller warranty
coverage period. To verify if an updated calibration is required, refer to the following procedure
in this bulletin.
IMPORTANT: A VIN list of involved vehicles currently in dealer inventory is attached to the
Administrative Message (US) or Dealer Communication (Canada) used to
release this bulletin.

I just had this ECU update completed. It was performed at the same time as warranty work and routine oil/filter change. I does not seem to affect performance based upon the readings of my GTech-Pro. I was pleased that this was the case since the dealer did not inform me that it would be performed.

Armando,

Go ahead and start a new topic, put my name in it and I'll get back to you.
Let me know the specifics of what you want to know.
Not sure what you are getting at there, but let's not hijack this topic ;)

Any new news for this??

Nope. No ill side-effects. Might have actually helped in the long run, as an intermittent check-engine light problem was found and fixed.

I wonder if this could help me, I have a check engine light that has been coming on for over ayear. the car runs too lean. They have tried everything no matter what after a while the car runs lean check engine light comes on. The fuel mixture is always very close to specs,

It took them two attempts to get it right. The first time, they said an air intake hose was loose. That cleared things up for about 2 months.

Second time they said it was a bad sensor. According to what's posted on mygmlink, here's what they did: "THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT" I don't have the repair invoice in front of me, and my dealer doesn't keep these online, so I can't get the error codes. If you need them, I'll dig out the paperwork.

Hope this helps.

From the paperwork:

Cause: Open throttle body position sensor voltage signals
Correction: Replaced throttle body

Notes:
Found codes PO223 and PO122 stored in PCM.
Inspected throttle body related connector, found connections look okay.
TP1 Vers TP2 not correlating.
Must replace throttle body for low sensor voltage.
Replaced throttle body, cleared codes and road tested.
TPS values now match, and codes did not reset.Had this done in February, and the light hasn't come back on.

my codes are po68 and p0112 lean codes on one of the banks, basically the fuel air mixture is off. it went to the dealer 5 times for repair and almost went into buyback but we settled instead. car was given new throtle body,
new fuel pump,
fuel injection cleaning
o2 sensors,
new pcm,
on the last attemp the put a known good car next to mine in the bay and switched part after part, apparently fix did not work as light still comes on intermittently. Someone on this sight told me caddi was aware of this problem and it would take a software update to change the computer calibrations. I wonder if this is the update
