ok i got a 1969 cadillac eldorado with a 500cid there is a build up of black sh*t in the intake so im going to take it off and soak it in gas or something ok so how hard is it to remove the intake manifold and valey pan gasket on there i really cant drop any type of dirt in the motor rite??ok so what should i be looking for when i remove this i already got the AC compresser/carb off so all i have to do is remove the blots and its off?

sounds like you've got every thing you need off just make sure theres no hoses or wires in the way. and a little dust won't be the end if it falls in just blow off the manifold with compressed air before you pull it off that should get rid of the loose dirt

Yep, just remove the bolts. BTW, it weighs 45 lbs or so, so don't think it's stuck on or anything, it's just extremely heavy!

This may sound somewhat silly but I use my shop vac and vacuumn the intake and surrounding area after removing the bolts to suck up any dirt.

I'm actually thinking about maybe painting my engine that color or perhaps a cast iron gray. Haven't quite made up my mind yet. BTW, that's a nice clean up.
