They're probably 225/60/R16, and yes they will fit your Deville.

well currently there is 2 ASE master techs working on the car and they are stummped but getting closer. for 1 the fuel pressure regulator was weak and causing the raw fuel smell, but not all the time, it was intermitten.
they do in fact believe that the timing is off but they believe that the timing is off with the balance shafts which is causing the problem.

if thats the case than thats good news because it means that the valves arnt bent. so far we know that all cylinders are firing and all the injectors are working. there isnt really much it could be. the motor has good compression and it passed the block test, so theres no coolant being burned or nothing like that. i think they are going to remove the side covers and check the timing but i probably wont know anything until monday.

there working on it at a shop where i used to work and there not charging me any time to look at it. just to repair what ever it needs which is cool.

i also found out today that the fuel rail recall was never done and i will be taking it in as-soon as i get her back home running good again. i photo imaged the dts wheels on my car, ill post a pic of it later so you can see, it looks awsome!!!!!!!!!

i need those wheels! i found a set of 4 new ones on ebay for 675.00 i might pick them up if i cant find a set of used ones somewhere..

Come again?

The northstar has no balance shaft. It has an intermediate sprocket, but it bolts to a flange on the front of the engine - there is no shaft internal to the engine that turns. It's like an idler.

Did you point out that someone screwed with the wiring?

yes, they knew that right away. its not an electrical issue, and the mitchell on demand 5 shows that thats not an idler sprocket, it says its a balance shaft that the crank sensor gets its signal from. i know that for some reason that HAS to be timmed with the motor or it wont run.

that timing system is weird, the crank at tdc and that sproket at 3pm and all 4 cams at 12o clock. if you rotate the motor after timing is set it will take 7 revolutions for the system to line up again. thats why the crank sensors look for the 7x reference signal.

theres also a write up floating around the net that says the same thing about the timing.

maybe its a 95 or earlier thing?

I know the 2000's have no balance shaft. There's no reason for the earlier engines to have one either.

When the crank and intermediate sprocket timing marks line up, then all the cams should be at 12 oclock with respect to the cam cover mounting surface.

The crankshaft has a reluctor ring machined in it, and it produces a 24x signal via the crank sensors.

right, but if that intermediate sprocket was nothing then there would be no need to line it up with the rest of the system. its like a cummings diesel kinda. that sprocket, what ever it does is not timed correctly with the rest of the system and thats whats making it run poorly.

im gonna do alot of research on this sprocket and see what it is for sure and why it needs to be lined up..
