Took the car in for some noise in the front suspension and they informed of an update for the gas gauge. It seems that the gague is inaccurate at the 1/8th level when the tank is truly empty. I think the number is 50111 but will update when get the car back.

FYI, they replaced the front bushings which was making the noise. 4th trip to the dealer since Dec on an 06 STS.

The 05111 number is the GM campaign number that covers the 17,462 vehicles that have/had the ECM issue.

As one who had my engine die while doing 65 on the I-405, I was pleased when they fixed it...:bouncy:

tell me about it
the V doesn't have an actual "update" but it goes from 1/2 to empty in 60 miles.
Best do what we do and fill up at 1/4.

I would also like to see about any fuel gauge fixes. It is quite annoying to see radical changes within a few miles of driving.

5th trip, they didn't fix the problem, but did manage to add a whole new slew of scratches from their horrible car wash. What I don’t get is that they are running the Bentley’s through the same wash and MUST be scratching the hell out of them.

On topic: I left the dealership with exactly half a tank and drove 1.9 miles home and used an entire tick on the gauge. I don’t think they have worked out the bugs yet. I guess I will keep the tank full.

Is the issue the gauge does not work or it moves fast past 1/2 tank? I cannot believe how fast my gauge goes from 1/2 to empty

Good question. They told me it was only an issue at the 1/8th mark, but i don;t think so. I had to get the car back from the dealer early due to other issues, but noticed that the gauge is now 1 tick from empty and it has been sitting the dealer lot waiting for service. No new miles from when I dropped it off. This sucks. I will discuss with them when I drop it off again tomorrow.

My fuel gage (Cadillac's spelling--it works for me) is erratic, too. In the Driver Information Center (DIC) I reset the fuel-used counter at each fill-up and monitor that number from time-to-time. The tank holds 17.5 gallons according to the owner's manual.

Last week the gage showed approximately 5/8ths full while the DIC fuel used number was 11.1 gallons when I pulled into the gas station. The pump meter read 10.955 at shut-off and 11.183 after topping-off. I'll go with the fuel used counter for now, and inquire about a gage fix later.
