I need some help in determining what would make my 8-6-4 idle fast all the time. It will not kick down, so I suspect the the computer is getting bad signals or no signals at all. I believe it to have the quasi injection system, so it may have a solenoid to enrich fuel mixture for fast idle or a funky TPS may be at fault, dunno. If anyone is familiar with this engine and its controls, let me know.

check your idle speed control motor

Look for binding linkage, vacuum leaks and check the stored ECM codes. Sometimes the ISC motor gets stuck and will cause this. Should set a code or 2.
