I think it's gr/? and blk/?. It's unused and plugged into a plastic cap holder.
It's directly below the pass headlight and the other one is closer to the center from the drivers headlight.
It looks like it could match to a HID ballast?!? Is it possible the prewired the 02's for HID. The 2 wire input (red/grn) on the HID ballast is for?? I'm guessing power and ground! If so, how does the low beam swicth on and from where...the factory plug on the back housing?
Appreciate any info, I'm currently trying to bid on a set of OEM HIDs, and I'm trying to gather as much info before install them.
Thx

Pretty sure it's not the DRL. My DRL is hooked up, up here in Canada. Are yours hooked up in the U.S.? It below the headlight too.
I got home late tonite, I'll try to take 1 tomorow!

Add them as an attachment to the forum. They need to be 800x600 or smaller. Just click manage attachments when you reply to a post.

If it was for 03 ballaster it would have a three prong 1 ground another positive another trigger.

That is used, and that's not a plastic cap holder.
It's the ambient temperature sensor for the temperature display in your mirror or for the outside temp display on your HVAC control depending on how your car is equipped.
They are usually located in the center, near the hood latch but that is not a really unusual location depending on the year.

With it unplugged turn the key on, the mirror should show "OC" plug it back in and it should read just fine.

Correct, although this sensor is not only on the 2002's. I am guessing that 02+ Escalade's all have them because on my 2005, I have the sensor in the exact same place.

Thanks.

too bad, i was hoping the HID was swap was going to be easier then expected!?!

So do the 03+ have the same headlight plug (same wire # and order) Plus an extra 2 or 3 prong plug?? On he ballasts, it looks like it only takes a 2 prong?
If it's a 3 prong I'm assuming I'll have to identify add reroute the low beam trigger from the orig headlight plug to the 3 pronger.
I might have to start a new thread on to see who has done this with their 02s...
Thx for the fast responses!!

A thread asking what that wire was for was one of my very first posts here. I even had a picture too.

hcvone knew what it was in an instant. The reason I asked it because I was replacing my turn signal bulbs and wanted to know what that was for. I didn't do a HID conversion, I switched to Silverstars. If I did HID, I'd want the 03+ OEM fit, so I'll be watching your thread carefully.
