If I could heat up the tires more it would have been in the 11's. Can't get a good burn out, I need a line lock. Tried 2nd gear for the burnout and that was the best result. Any ideas? I LOVE THIS CAR. The spectators went crazy for it. Reed please post this on the FAQ

2nd gear tire heating, or 2nd gear launch ?

KARS has no effect except to eliminate wheel hop

Launch at 1500, shift at 6400 (when the red light comes on LOL)

This is the fastest time posted on Drag times for a CTSV

Sounds like he was easing into throttle to reduce spin, like a slight feather before punching it each time. That would be my guess! If not, then banging gears would have had parts on the track! :tisk:

Very nice ET! Nice temps for trap speeds, not ETs. :) Super 60' time..more like an automatic tranmission short time. Was this at Kilkare?

With a 60' time like that I doubt there woulda been much spinning in second. It looked like the track was pretty sticky.

Yep drag radials, but not heated the way they should be. The video is not the 12.29 run it's a 12.58 run, checking the launch only, I did screw up the shift on that one ( only one of the day). My cameraman was also not proficient, I got lots of sky and fence on most of the shots. I did shift good on the 12.29 (obviously). And yes I had a s*** eating grin. The best part was my friend said EVERYBODY was watching and some actually said "unbelivable that it's a Cadillac". He said everybody craned thier neck over the fence to see the time. Cool thing is you can't hear the Maggie whine over the exhaust (they say it sounds sick, but I can't hear it). Tri States is the slow strip around here, Edgewater is much faster, I'm going back there again, now that I have a better launch ( I think there's still room for improvement). This whole trip was to improve the 60' times, the good ET was just a result. I'm sure there's an 11 somewhere soon, but I only want to do that once, since I don't have a roll cage and will get banned from further racing.

PS: Since I don't have TPS's in the drag radials I could not get into Comp Mode and the Stabilitrack was screwing up my burn out

If it's an NHRA track you don't have to worry about a bar until 11.49 now. That went into effect in 2005 I believe.

If you leave the TPS's out long enough the system will disable itself and you will have full function Competitive Mode and all again.

Flyboy
03-19-06, 06:28 AM
CVP33 is correct.....Driving continously for between 50/100 miles disables the system. In my application, I took the TPS's out...don't really care for them myself. I DO check my tire pressures on a regular basis with a very accurate gauge.

Stkshkr....what TP did you have in the drag radials?

stkshkr
03-19-06, 09:20 AM
One track is IHRA the other is NHRA.
Started at 20, finished at 18PSI, and the tires are 245's as that is all that would fit on the Mille's. I put them on just before going to the track and it still showed a reading all the way there. Then finally went away. Good to know I can turn it off eventually.

CVP33
03-19-06, 09:51 AM
I seem to recall it was a lot of miles. Over 300 that I had to drive before TPS disabled itself. For the record the buyer of my polished GM rims got one hell of a deal because the sensors were installed in those, a $320 value! The Chrysler dealer never noticed the system wasn't functional.

But you'll have to remove the TPS's from your all the wheels...

Wow, congrats! I'm a bit depressed right now w/ the times I ran today...

Run#1:
60' - 2.248
1/4 - 13.391 @ 109.59

Run#2:
60' - 2.216
1/4 - 13.442 @ 108.47

Maggie felt strong the whole way down but when I went to get my slips I was very disappointed. If I were stock I'd be pretty happy with these times but I figured with Maggie I could skip a gear and still run 13.4's. I'm also missing about 5mph in the trap. Where is it? My guess is that my car needs one hell of a tune or Maggie isn't delivering as promised.

Anyone know which headers bolt right up to a Magnaflow? I might as well get a set and install them b/f StealthV's tune.

I think you answered why your times and ET are same as stock. Heat, elevation, and launch technique will play a big role in belt driven forced induction.

Do you still wheel hop with the 2006 rear diff?

Flyboy
03-20-06, 08:09 AM
Just my 0.02 cents worth.....this car is VERY sensitive to temperature. I've made over 20 passes down the strip myself and always notice a BIG improvement on the cooler days. There's a guy on www.dragtimes.com that just ran a 12.2 @ 118 in New Jersey, N/A engine, but of course not stock. (Looks like a WELL MODIFIED V!!!) Temp was 55 degrees. So.....let's all look for the cool days....

stkshkr
03-20-06, 08:59 AM
Vendetta, No wheel hop is because of the KARS stage III, the 06 diff is just a stronger unit (I hope)
Seattle, Get a StealthV tune. Flyboy and Vmax are 100% correct. Your 60' time is not good, what tires do you have, how are you launching, what is your shift point? These are important factors. I see the track is almost at sea level what was the temp?

V-Max
03-20-06, 09:51 AM
Damn Atco raceway! I wonder if it is sea level racing or shorter version of the 1/4 mile, something like 400 meters or 1312 feet. Notice how some of the faster times are along the eastern seaboard?

Stock tires with about 1k miles left on them. It was about 50 degrees out yesterday and sunny (believe it or not!) I sat in line for 3 1/2 hours b/f making my first pass. It was unbelievably busy. My car should have been pretty cool. I'm launching from about 1500rpms and then rolling into the throttle. I get plenty of controlled wheelspin. I'm shifting at redline in each gear.

As far as the trap speed, I didn't think that was as dependant on the 60' time. In my old Acura CLS, if I pulled a 2.0 60', I'd get 13.4 @ 105. When I pulled a 2.2 60', I'd get a 13.7 @ 105. I thought the mph was more related to the amount of power the car was making.

These 1/4 times make that 'race' with the 300C SRT8 make alot more sense. A properly tuned Maggied V should fare much better since it appears mine isn't making the power it should. Time to mod again!!

stkshkr
03-20-06, 01:41 PM
Were you hitting the rev limiter? Shifting at 6600 can do that with the stock limiter and I am sure that will cut both your ET and MPH. I have been shifting at 6400 with a soft limiter which is much safer for the Maggie as it doesn't cut the fuel (read LEAN = dangerous) it closes the throttle. I am about to try 6600 shifts with the limiter set at 6800. Your track conditions were about the same as mine. Try the StealthV tune before you get the headers, I'm not sure my headers made a big difference. You can always have Rick retune it if you get the headers. Good luck

great 60', what DR'z where you running? Nitto'z Those MM wheels, are those 18x8? How about the launch... where you slipping moderately or throughout the 1st gear on that run? OR where you dumping the clutch?

The soft limiter closes the throttle when the rev limiter is reached as opposed to the factory strategy of turning off the fuel.

Very impresive 60' times. Last time on morosso cool night the best run I had with "small shot of Nitrous" I ran a 12.94 @117 with a 60' times of 2.0. I couldn't get the car to hook without wheel hop.

18x8 MM's with 245/40 BFG's. Moderate clutch ride out, no hop at all.
Velose,
Glad you're gonna do it, you will love the crowd reaction.

I hope everybody beats my time, we need more V's on the straight track so people will appreciate them for the fantastic car they are.

Line Lock next for healthy burnouts which I honestly believe will get the 60' times down to 1.6 with help from a secret StealthV tune that I hope everyone will benefit from.

Even though my track time on this board was less than impressive, my car itself was not so unlike a fairly large planet in space --> gravitation pull. I swear I had at least 30 people come buy to check out my car. All ages and all backgrounds. One guy in a dragster came by and couldn't believe it was a Cadillac. He couldn't compliment me enough on the looks of the car. I think GM owes me commission I think for all the press the V got this wknd.
