: 1990-1992 Taillights

I've noticed that the taillights on the 1980-1989 RWD have two bulbs in them. One on the very top, and one in the middle. The bottom third of the taillight is a reflector and grabs the light from the middle bulb to light that third. However on the 1990-1992 taillights since they're clear with a red center, the internal part has three bulbs lighting all of the lens. I don't like the way the bottom thirds of my taillights don't actually light up and what I'm interested in doing is switching the actual bulb housing from my '89 with that of the bulb housing from a '90-'92. NOT THE LENS! Just the insides. How difficult would this be? Does anyone have a picture of the taillight taken apart?

Not hard at all, since they're all the same car, really. If I remember correctly, the housing bolts onto the bumper with two bolts. You may be able to see it if you go under the car. Anyway, I don't see it being complicated, merely time-consuming.

Cool. I know this place where the guy has a 1990-1992 style Brougham that took quite a plowing to the side. I'll ask if I can take the taillights.

The white tail lights don't fit on the older cars. So it probably won't be too easy to do what you want to do.

I've heard that before - what exactly is different? Some guy that swapped to late model housings noted he had to change the bumper ends... they sure look similar, must just be a minor dimensional difference :hmm:

No no I just want the three bulbs, not the white lens.

Harnesses? Exactly how much do I have to swap out to do this successfully?

That doesn't matter because you still want to use the new tail lights. The lense doesn't have anything to do with how they fit.

472 I don't know what the difference is I just know that some people here bought the white tail lights before and then they couldn't use them.
