First off hi everyone, I'm new here. I just bought a 05 STS and I'm loving it! I'll post some pics. latter.
Everything works for me but one small problem. My Blackberry 7100g is connected but the number key pad is shaded out in the background. Sometime it lights up and I can dial from screen but most of the time it's shaded out, I see the numbers but they are not functioning. I can dial from the phone itself. Does anyone know what's going on? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The screen is shaded out when you drive and it functions properly when you stop.
This is done for your safety. What I cannot figure is, if I can push a button to turn the radio on or select a station, why can I not select a phone number to be dialed from a list?

Why can I not select a phone number to be dialed from a list?
It's the age old argument between Operations and Engineering. The logic at GM was that we'll reduce our liability and enhance safety by locking out the functions when the vehicle is moving. However, we'll still allow them (the owners/drivers) to dial by using the NameTag function as part of the VR system.
The logic was "semi" sound. The problem was the execution in that the VR system does not work well enough to implement the concept.
There is a whole other argument as to how to establish which features and functions to begin with let alone OBDX exhange and higher Blueteooth 1.2 functionality. But this is where they started out at.

So what you are saying is, set all the nametags you want and just use the VR. Still if I have to make a call that doesn't have a nametag then just pick up the phone and dial.
I get it but don't like it.:want:

Ahhhh, that's why they gave you "Digit Dialing" as part of the VR as well.
"Technically", you can dial any number you want at anytime while driving. Most frequently used can be stored as "Nametags"; the rest done via Digit Dialing.
See, they thought of everything...
Until it came to actual ability to reliably work. In that case...YMMV
Don't forget nametags are for most frequently used only so we are limited to 20...

I cannot even use digit dialing. I say Phone Enter and it changes the Display language to German. I am going to start making some noises at Cadillac. I have had the car since June and still no VR update.
