View Full Version : I POD compatibility larringt05STS 03-14-06, 02:59 PM Hi All,
I have a 2005 STS with NAV. I 'm looking for a new MP3 Player considering the latest IPOD. Anyway have one and now how it works with the STS? Also are you able to view your playlist on the NAV Screen?
Thanks, ascariSTS 03-15-06, 12:47 AM Hi,
iPod has a "Dock connector"... (not with the packge, you have to buy it)... it's a cable that goes out of the iPod to RCA Video/Audio.. you can connect it to RCA plugs in your car....
It displays whatever on the iPod screen on the STS display... and plays music of course cmattdvc 03-18-06, 12:56 AM :) Go to wal-mart they have an entire section of ipod stuff, there you will find the (Belkin I think is the brand) ipod to rca adapter, If I 'mimber right it goes for under 10 bucks and works great  larringt05STS 03-21-06, 05:04 PM But can you control you IPOD, i.e. change play lists or songs from the STS display? Cajonkev 03-21-06, 05:24 PM No. There is no "remote" capability to the STS touchscreen. It is merely displaying what is input via the AUX video/audio jacks. There is no cabling/signaling that allows further control beyond the Ipod control pad. larringt05STS 03-21-06, 11:55 PM Does anyone know of any mp3 player on the market that does? ascariSTS 03-22-06, 12:01 AM I don't think there is...
the video/audio cable is coming out of you device and into the STS, it doesn't go back... and it's only video/audio... nothing that can generate signals anyway... Devil_concours 03-22-06, 07:53 PM Does anyone know of any mp3 player on the market that does?

I thought there was a discussion about dvd burnt mp3s working or not and the conclusion was that they don't 06STS V8 AWD 03-24-06, 08:24 AM There are aftermarket products that will do what you want. It involves hooking up a "black box" inside the dash and plugging into either the XM port or another aux input port behind the unit. You may want to talk to your local Cadillac dealer and/or high-end automotive sound system installers in your area. Here's one such device:

Google on "cadillac ipod connector" and see what you can find that looks good.

But here I go again. To the best of my knowledge having looked at it many times (although not in the last 3-4 weeks), there are no aftermarket products currently available for the 05/06 STS line as yet.
The closest to is the NavTV mod which as noted in the other thread is a 2k mod to the head-end unit.
I have looked at the product listed above and after trading e-mails with them confirmed that this does NOT work with the STS.
It can/is confusing as GM uses various manufactures and designs for their different model lines. Good thing we have this forum to help sort them all out! I thought there was a discussion about dvd burnt mp3s working or not and the conclusion was that they don't
You don't want to burn to the DVD in MP3 format... That has issues, it may
play but can sometimes screw up...? Burn to the DVD in CDA format.
Definitely get more on the DVD! Devil_concours 03-25-06, 09:36 PM You don't want to burn to the DVD in MP3 format... That has issues, it may

Hello Leo,
I just spoke to the R&D guys at USA Spec and they are working on a version for the GM LAN radios (which the STS has) but they could not give me a date to expect it. I also spoke to another manufacturer that we just started carrying, Precision Interface Electronics, and they also are expecting a unit soon. Please check back with me in a month or so and I'll update you as to what we hear.
Best Regards,
Derek

Subject: iPod Interface for 2006 Cadillac STS
Hello,
I was wondering if you intend to manufacture/sell an iPod interface for the 2006 Cadillac STS like this:
http://ipodcarparts.com/cadillac-ipod-interface-with-auxiliary-input-p-191.html
and when you think that will be available.
Thanks,
Leo Hart I didnt know you could burn a DVD in CDA/Redbook format. Cool! |
