I am new to this list, so forgive me if this question is redundant. My dash just recently displayed the warning message of "service engine soon". I am wondering if there is any way to find out what my 1995 Seville SLS needs without having to go to a dealership? Can I retrieve a code on my own, outside of the dealership?
thanks,

Hold the Off and Warmer on the climate control until the DIC resets and release and the codes will be displayed.
Let us know what you find, maybe we can help.

Hi, I have a 91 Seville... can I access the code for "service engine soon" the same way?:bouncy: Hold the Off and Warmer on the climate control until the DIC resets and release and the codes will be displayed.
Let us know what you find, maybe we can help.

Yes! Give it a try. Can't hurt.

I've had Eldo's since '81 and they all have a way to display the codes. Pressing and holding the "Off" and "Warmer" buttons does it. On newer models with driver and passenger climate controls, press the passenger side "Warmer" button and the "Off" button.

I'm new here, folks, so please bear with me. On a 96 Eldo "service engine soon" is on constant---also, when the car warms up, I get "service transmission". Thanks to reading you guys, I got 4 codes up, including PO717--all history. The trani filters have never been changed (80,000 miles)
and I ordered filters from my local NAPA today. Problems here too--Cad dealer says one filter--NAPA says two (left and right)--parts store on net says three. Are any of these people believable? Also, all code being history, is there a way I can delete them? And Should I?? Thanks, rowdy PS--The car runs and shifts perfectly.
