Fellow land yacht (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/#) owners.....

My love affair with the cadillac (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/#) began at 19, when I purchased my first car, a 1987 Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance, 307 180000 kilometeres. I drove that car for 2 and a half years, until I scrapped it (I live in Montreal, Quebec, and I drove it in winter, which killed the car)...After looking for another Brougham for 6 months, I Found a 1992, 5.7L 350 150000 kilometeres, leather, 1 old man owner, etc...I was amazed in the condition the car was in..Did a complete paint job on it..It had 2-3 spots of minimal surface rust before...:thehand:

Once I bought it, I did a major tune up on it. It follows:

-change engine oil (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/#)
-change transmission oil,
-change differential (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/#) oil
-change oil filter (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/#)
-change transmission filter
-change gas filter
-change pcv valve
-clean injectors
-flush radiator (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/#)
-change spark plugs (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/#) (ac delco platinum)
wires, distributor ,rotor
-changed all belts
-changed 4 shocks (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/#) (2 air shocks in back),
-bleed and clean brakes (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/#)
-check timing and idle
-removed catalyct converter and replaced it with a resonator
also removed resonator in back of car before exit

It drove amazing for the summer. Then winter came and I stored it. I drive a 200$ 1988 olds cutlass (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/#) ciera shitbox for winter :)

This summer, before starting to drive the car, I will do the following:

-change brakes all around
-new radiator and thermostat
-4 new tires (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/#), alignment and balancing
-Flowmaster 40 series delta flow muffler
-Edelbrock round air element with K&N air filter
-2 injector filters

I think that after all this the car will have such a nice smooth and powerful ride...

Here are some pics..Let me know what you think of and what I missed...

That's what I was wondering. Gorgeous car! I like the white exterior with dark interior. Looks like the emblem hole was sealed.

I'm in Toronto, so if you're ever in town, or if I'm in Montreal (this summer for sure) we could compare beasts!

yess!!..I removed all emblems exept the leaf around the trunk key hole.and the ones on the side of the car on the vinyl top.....and as for the main emblem in front, I removed it and closed the hole....That emblem got stolen 4 times on my 87 FWB..........didnt want that happening on my 92!!

There is a bottle you buy and connect to the fuel line
And you run the motor off of it awhile

Ooohhhh that is a very nice looking, VERY clean '92 Brougham! I like the aftermarket air filter!

Not aftermarket at all.... its simply flipping the air cleaner lid....

Looks fantastic! Makes me miss my old 1992 Brougham.

Very nice 92. The 5.7 is a good engine in that car. We had a '92 6-door limo for a few years and even with the extra weight (it tipped the scales at 5700 lbs) it had decent acceleration. The built quality of the 92's was very good. Sorry to hear about the emblem thieves.

Love the ride, the 90-92's are my true passion! If you flip the lid back over and put the duct tubbing back in you'll pick up a horse or two! How much the paint job cost you?

thanks for the comments people..........

yess.....I find the 92 is one of the most beautiful and classic cars GM ever made......

as per the comments....in the pic, the "lid is flipped".But I have a new edelbrock air element and a k&n air filter that's gonna go in this summer.......along with a flowmaster......

the paint cost me 1500$ canadian...and most of the trims and the grey mouldings came off......it was a nice paint job for cheap cuz I bought the car from the same dealer...I paid the car 4500$ canadian .......plus the paint job..and all the things I wanted to do or have in my 87FWB...I ended up doing on my 92. (like the 350, leather, beautiful condition vinyl top, frame, body, interior, the vertical lines of the front grill vs. the square looking grill ,etc.........much more worth it too!!

Why hello fellow Canadian! Nice looking car, very clean. In your second pic it looks like the exhaust exits on an angle behind the right rear wheel, like an 80s Malibu or Cutlass. Havn't seen that sort of exit on a D body before. Am I seeing that wrong? Is it a shadow? Just thought it was interesting to note.

04-04-06, 02:59 PM
dear brougham_geezer,

you are correct. I made the exhaust pipe stick out right after the back right tire...originally, there is a resonator there which continues until the back of the car....I cut off the resonator and made the pipe stick out. I find it's nicer that way......

p.s. where in canada are you??

04-04-06, 05:08 PM
Aha! I thought that was a pipe there. Neato! I'm an hour outside of Halifax, in Nova Scotia by the way.

So last week I decided to bust out the car since winter is now officially over. Gave her a oil change and a good cleaning and took some new pics.

Great car! Same as my '90 except mine has cloth, gold pkg., and an alarm on the front wreath. I did the exhaust to the right, also...dirt roads here in AZ.
