Welll i finally got started working on "heavy metal" today.... I pulled the hood off yesterday....

This evening i pulled off the valve covers, intake, and carb....

To my surprise when i pulled the valve covers the heads weren't dry and rusty, they just looked like they had been sitting for a few months not 10 yrs..... i pulled the distributor and primed oil pump to see if it was still functionally,, oil squirted everywhere out of all the rockers....

Maybe tomorrow, i'll pull the old rusty water pump off, and start degreasing cleaning the block and bay(what's visible)...

I was definitely a GOOD DAY:) :)

i'm sure u guys will get over hump soon.....

i should be able to clean and paint the motor pretty good without pullin it.. i hope...LOL

there was little rust on the passenger side head but not enough for me to pull em off.....my challenge is definitely goin to be gettin the rear brakes loose..

Cool deal man. That hood is just a bit heavy eh?

So are you going to pull the engine and rebuild or just freshen it up?

my plan was only to pull the intake, carb, clean and paint....:)

BUT, now I have every accessory off, drivers side head and manifold off, the passenger side head is unbolted, manifold is giving me HECK...I'm gonna have to figure out a way to cut the flange studs to free this thing up... I tried to my dremel but the disc that i have have is to thin...

Anyone have any ideas to get this thing freed up:stirpot: ....

I'm gonna have the heads cleaned, maybe even rebuilt if needed....

yeah the hood is a bit heavy ,,, my wife thought i was crazy when i told her i got it off by myself....LOL
