I am unable to connect Verizon XV6700 PDA phone to STS by Bluetooth. The phone and the STS discover each other but the STS does not accept the passkey. Calling data services at Verizon and tech support at Audiovox did not help. According to them this is not a "known issue". I would like to know if anyone else has been able to successfully establish a connection between the two or has any other suggestion. Treo 700 belonging to tech support guy at the local Verizon store also did not connect and had the same iproblem and he was wondering if this is a Windows Mobile 5 problem or there is some kind of compatibility issue between Bluetooth versions. Does anyone know what Bluetooth versions are in STS and Verizon XV6700 phone? According to Verizon guy, phone is 1.2.

Any help will be appreciated. It is frustrating and disappointing to buy a car for 65K and not being able to use the features.

Here are two websites that offer bluetooth help but none of this has solved my problem of connecting XV6700 to STS

As you have probably read by now in all of these threads there is a "hit and miss" aspect to this feature.

Cadillac only listed three phones as "compatible" when the 05's went out and even then they were outdated phones. GM has not released any updates as to other phones nor have there been any firmware releases for Bluetooth functionality.

I personally have gone through 14 phones and have now stopped at the Verizon Rzr V3c which although not perfect, is no worse than most for my connectivity.

Looking at it from the other end. Verizon has released a matrix on each of their phones and which car kits they believe they are compatible with. This is based on the listed standards however (1.1 vs. 1.2 etc.) and not off of actual testing.

Here is the sheet for your model phone. As is noted, Cadillac is not on it as yet.

All this being said, there are others here who have never had a problem with their phones and vehicle and some who have cleared issues by implementing software/firmware updates (re. Trio 650/700w).

YMMV - Good Luck

I have a Samsung i730 running Windows Mobile 2003 SE. It took a couple tries to get it paired to the STS, but once completed, it has worked well. The pairing is automatic and stereo always mutes when a call comes in. Caller ID displays but no signal strength, battery strength, or phone book transfer. On the downside, my callers can't understand a word I'm saying unless I lean into the mirror and shout. Considering I purchased the phone specifically to use in the car, I'm pretty disappointed. I don't know if the cause is the phone or the car. Overall, the technology in the car is really a let-down.

sanjeevp,

I've been able to get my XV6700 to work w/ my STS-V, but I tried it w/ an '06 STS V6 on a test drive and couldn't get it to pair (trying having both the STS search for the phone, and the phone search for the STS) Both failed during the passkey input. I almost didn't buy the V because of it, but I guess I got lucky with the unit in the car I got. Before I made the purchase, I ran the question up both Verizon and Audivox's tech support tiers and finally got a Verizon Data Tech Support on a conference call with Audiovox (UTStarcom) and they said the PDF matrix was from real tests. (Cajonkev, good find on the PDF .. it's well hidden, but the Cadillac Bluetooth actually is on there. It's listed under GM STS navigation and the manufacturer DENSO). If I were you sanjeevp, I'd pop into the dealership and try to pair my XV6700 with another STS. (V if you can find one) and if it works get the dealership to make yours work, or replace the head unit with one that does. I have noticed that every so often when after ending calls every so often, the bluetooth on the phone turns itself off. (probably a phone & Bill Gates problem)

Good Luck,

Jon
