As I understand it, it takes some "hammer persuasion" to get them to fit correctly. You can get them through MTS and maybe from some of the other vendors. BTW.....nice lookin car!!! caddyswede 03-15-06, 01:15 AM Somewhere I've read that 70-72 Monte Carlo headers would fit... anyone know if it's much to modified except the flange-change? Couldn't find where I read it. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/690250 lux hauler 03-15-06, 01:21 AM Somewhere I've read that 70-72 Monte Carlo headers would fit... anyone know if it's much to modified except the flange-change? Sasquatch 03-17-06, 03:34 PM Got the headers for my 69 hearse from Cad Company. They fit great. Some people have a problem with Cad Company but they have been nothing but straight up with me. How does it run in cold weather with headers? Does it want to stall? caddyswede 12-04-06, 06:09 AM Now I've ordered Sanderson Cad-600 headers. Hope they fit... Even purchased a Edelbrock intake and renovate my 500 and TH400. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/690250 68CoupeDeVille 12-04-06, 06:41 PM Keep us informed how the install goes. caddyswede 12-30-06, 03:24 PM Here's some pictures of my work with headers and other parts. Anyone know where to find looow air-cleaner's? Do anyone know where to find the weatherstrip under hood, below the windscreen and maybe could sell it to me? http://www.cardomain.com/ride/690250/16 kevin666 12-30-06, 04:12 PM Summit, Jeg's, or anywhere else should have drop-center air cleaners. The bottom of the housing will wrap aroung the carb and such so it will sit lower. I have bought them on eBay, also... Ted in Olympia 12-30-06, 10:38 PM So what do you think about the headers? Would you do it again? TED caddyswede 12-31-06, 01:41 AM Ted: Now when the engine is out, no bigger problems, but if the engine is in place it must be hard to mount them. I think they must be mounted from underside of car, and then steering parts is the problem. Now I have to do the rest of exhaust system, but first I must have piston rings so I can put the proper engine together. It take some time when I order parts from USA, but I have other things to do at the car... http://www.cardomain.com/ride/690250 Ted in Olympia 12-31-06, 04:04 PM Thanks. You are going to have a very nice car there and I really enjoy looking at your pictures. I did not notice you were from Sweden at first but I should have figured it out by the name, I'm a bit slow at times. I part out 71-78 Eldos parttime and about 1/4 of my parts go to Europe and most to Sweden and Norway. I have met some very nice people from that part of the world over the internet and they sure like their Cadillacs. Good luck with your project and keep up the great work. TED caddyswede 02-18-07, 04:34 PM Now the car are almost ready, Edelbrock, headers and dual exhaust in place and I've drived the car too! And no leaks at all! It didn't respond so well when I tested it first, a lot of vibrations at midrange, had to changed main jets from #69 to #71 and changed timing from 10 to 15 degrees! Than it work's good. No knocks, nice idle. It's AC R45XLS-6, 0,60 gap spark plugs. They are nearly white but no overheating, maybe I should install bigger jets? What do you think? Is it to much with 15 degrees? Should I use R44XLS instead? Engine is a -74 from beginning, std cam. Maybe I should have a H-pipe too? BTW, even the TH-400 work's after rebuild... http://www.cardomain.com/ride/690250 | |
