View Full Version : 2005 Sts 4 I am currently a 03 CTS owner. I went by my dealer in Miami, Florida and found a 05 STS that was left over from 05. He stated that will arrive from up north next week. I am dealing with the owner of the dealership. He did inform me that it is an AWD STS-V8 but in the photo the rear has a 4 after the STS. I have never heard of the STS4 can anyone help me out with this.
My question is, does the 4 stand for the AWD?
Thanks:confused: flyboy767 03-10-06, 10:32 AM Yes. on the trunk lid the AWD cars have STS4 instead of just STS Bigplay 03-10-06, 11:08 AM My only question would be that your in Florida do you really need awd it will be alittle less expensive without awd. 06STS V8 AWD 03-10-06, 12:46 PM Not only will the STS without AWD be less expensive to buy, it's less expensive to operate since AWD increases fuel consumption. If you don't need the AWD in Florida, I'd suggest not getting it.
-Mike I am getting a real good deal on the vehicle. Its an Excutive Demo with 5,000 miles. Cajonkev 03-11-06, 01:09 PM I am getting a real good deal on the vehicle. Its an Excutive Demo with 5,000 miles.
Well obviously from your original post you weren't asking for advice on AWD versus RWD but simply clarifying the (4) on the badge.
Good luck with your new ride but don't forget the Gas Guzzler Tax in the negotiation which only applies to the STS4 models (assuming that is the same in Fl. as CA.) I am getting a real good deal on the vehicle. Its an Excutive Demo with 5,000 miles.
I advise you to test the car and try to go up a hill on a low rpm ( less than 2000 ) . I have a sts4-2006 8V and when driving below 2000 rpm it shifts to the 5th gear immediately , and when I need some power it shift to the 4th and immediately to the 3rd which makes a jerky feeling
the fuel consumption is a little bit high ( hardly 22 lit/100km ) but if you can afford this car you should afford the fuel
otherwise , the performance , grip on curves , MRC is out of this world Devil_concours 03-12-06, 07:42 PM I advise you to test the car and try to go up a hill on a low rpm ( less than 2000 ) . I love the mrc, it's the single best feature of the sts except you can't adjust while your moving due to nav lockout. somebody09 06-13-06, 09:53 AM So if you get the STS4, does that only come with a V8? Or can you opt for the V6? When the hurricanes come, you'll need AWD to drive over the dead tourists and debris.
Not really. :) justgreat 06-13-06, 02:41 PM So if you get the STS4, does that only come with a V8? Or can you opt for the V6?
in 06, awd is an option on the 6 or the 8. in 05, only the 8 had awd as an option.
jackg
06 sts6 (not 6 wheel drive) on order megeebee 06-17-06, 09:12 PM So if you get the STS4, does that only come with a V8? Or can you opt for the V6?
AWD is offered with the V6 as well. corvette00 06-19-06, 10:43 AM What is a really good deal? It is my understanding GM no longer provides much demo allowance. I have an 05 loaded v8 rwd with under 12k that could be purchased for uner $40,000. bert5468 06-24-06, 10:15 PM I would have to get one hellava deal to buy a three year old car sold as a exec car! Remember, 2005 was the first year! I would sooner spend a little more money and get a 2007! There will be incentives! GuidosCaddy 06-26-06, 02:56 PM I have an 05 STS v6 RWD and it handles great.
They might just be trying to get rid of that exec car. I would go for an 07 STS v6 instead for a similar price range.
Good Luck. |
