: How is Cadillac making itself more relevant to newer markets?

For any auto manufacturer, it is vital to appeal to younger crowds, because these guys go on and buy the supposed luxury when they can afford it. Very few people actually form new opinions of ANY brand in ANY category after the age of 30.

What do you think Cadillac is doing to appeal to the younger markets?

I don't know if they are aiming for the under 30 crowd, but I've noticed a pretty different advertising campaign in the last 5 or so years. Their ads feature the music of Led Zepellin, they've been advertising at more mainstream events like the Superbowl and the Oscars, their whole design theme has strayed from tradition, and then there's the whole line of performance models to be released in the future.

I think Cadillac is trying to shed their "old man" image by offering models like the CTS, and the CTSV. I told my dad about the V and he responded "Who the heck needs that kinda power?" So I think they are aiming at the younger crowd. By offering different types of Devilles, such as a DHS with a softer ride, and old-style column shifter, as well as a more sport oriented DTS with fatter tires, floor shifter, more power and firmer handling suspension. Some years ago no one would have guessed Cadillac would make a large SUV, not to mention the smaller SRX. Now they are even into the truck market with the EXT? I believe, who would have thought that, a Cadillac truck!!?? After Lincoln failed with the smaller truck idea, namely the Blackwood, I wonder if GM will risk the same venture? Blackwoods are quite collectable now I hear, as they only made around 800 of them before they were killed off! I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for as an answer, but I hope this helps?

Sounds like you have a paper to write. ;)

If so, this article is most relevant.

Also, Detroit News (http://www.detnews.com/search/index.htm) always has articles on Cadillac and the industry. Do a search, and you'll probably find sales figures from the past like this:
