Anybody out there know of Boston area shop that could cut out the plenum for me on intake manifold. I had new exhaust, with modern cat put on magnaflow so now I'm looking front more air in? also with larger opening can I put orignal carb directly on or do I need adaptor. I'm tempted to switch over to Edelbrock. Don't want to affect hood.

I'm not around Boston but any automotive machine shop should be able to do it.

Yeah, any machine shop should be able to do it. The original carb will fit directly in place. You aren't do;ing anything but cutting the plenum out. The carb pad will remain the same. You could also do it yourself if you have a bit of know-how and access to a die grinder.

The center cut manifold modification will benefit with the addition of a 1" carb spacer as well. If you want to change carbs (I wouldn't, the QJet is IMO the best carb for a street car period) you can use a 1" spacer/square bore adaptor.

Never been dyno tested AFAIK. But the Edelbrock is apparently worth around 20hp, this flows almost as well - make your own conclusions.
