I would love to put this info on the FAQ...

Has anyone actually installed one of these models of Optima in a V... I wont put it up there 'till I get confirmation from someone (pictures would be nice)...

Optima is the best, but you should try the free one under warranty first: mine has been fine since warr. replacement . . .

If you take a look at the two links I posted above, they give the battery dimensions.

I would still like to know which one actually fits in the car, in real life, including the top terminals before I plunk down 150.00 for it.

thanks for your help

I've had the yellow top in mine, and the hood was lifted about 1/4" when it was closed all the way due to the top posts. I have since gotten the red top specified for GM , it fits and I no longer see the hood lifting.

Can someone provide a picture and a model number? I am reluctant to post this on the FAQ based on current info... One person shows a "yellow" top and says fits fine, another posts and says it doesnt work (hoot lifts)... I am not knocking you guys, but we have not seen a model number yet and someone convincing me.

I will not put this on the FAQ until someone can give me the 100%... I dont want to mislead anyone... I dont need a battery yet, or I would go test this.

thanks!

My brother has had three cadillacs over the past few years and two of them had early failed batteries. The replacements all had no problems. Get it fixed under the warranty. If it fails again, worry about after market.

The part # on the battery is RED75/35.

The Yellow top and Red top show the same dimmensions in height in inches (7.625) but the red top shows to be several mm shorter (193.7 mm vs. 196.9 mm.) under metric dimensions on the pdfs posted earlier. If those plastic caps rub through to the hood, you'd have quite a spark show.

Has anyone installed a red top in their car and can confirm that the top terminals do not hit the hood?

Yeah..know what you mean. Tried one and didn't like the fit. Took the car to the dealer for a new warranty Delco, and bought a battery tender. Your Nav and all that crap activate every so often, even without the car on, from what I'm told, so after a while sitting, the battery drains, and drains. I'm sure a fully charged stock battery will hold up for weeks of sitting (from experience), but once it gets run down a bit (i.e., after several one week rests) you may have a problem....

Modern automotive electrical systems can sure drain the same battery used in the past. Late model Mercedes Benz's use two batteries!

Might want to disconnect Onstar with something less than OE style battery. When the car is delivered to the owner it may have sat idle a few times and deep cycled. Either driving it or battery tending may be the long term answer.

Mine failed......last week, one dead cell.....replaced under warranty......no problems.

The dealer did say they have been replacing a lot of Delco batteries under warranty (on all Cadillac models), for the very same problem as I had.....just an FYI.
