Toyota will put its stunning LF-A supercar concept into production in late 2008, according to a report from Tokyo cited by Edmunds. The car is expected to include a front-mounted V10 engine with over 500 horsepower. The car will sell for $170,000 and will underscore Toyota's new F1 connection. The car will go head-to-head with the 2008/2009 Acura NSX (http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/01/20/honda-to-go-after-aston-with-next-nsx/), the report says. What a joke! $170k for 500 hp? I'd save myself the trouble and get a Ford GT or a Viper or any other car but that one

As much as i love the Japanese cars,I would NEVER pay $170k for damn toyota(provided i had the money),or any other japanese car for that matter.Japan is not in the business,i think,of making super exotics,i doubt it will ever sell. For that price it better make me dinner and perform some sexual act on me.

Maybe they figure that if they sell it for $170,000 that it will attract a certain buyer that will only pay top dollar for their stuff.

I think the price is too much for that car, but its not all about horsepower Blackout. Why would people pay 250,000 for a Bentley Arnage, its only got 450 hp. Theres more to the car than that.

I could see that going for $90k, $170k is a joke.

I'd price it at around $120,000 or so, not at $170,000! Lexus makes fine automobiles, I'll give them that, but to have whose base price (figure options to be $1000-$3000 each) is $170,000 is outrageous! Maybe they're trying to compete with Mercedes, but it seems that they've priced it too high even for that.

Also weak on the power and lacking a lot of luxury feel (styling, nameplate, etc) for a car at that price range.

And you can't exactly compare Lexus, which makes a nice car, to Bentley, which makes a totally kick ass car with one hell of a pedigree.

Remember people saying Cadillac would never sell an XLR-V at $100k? They're on par to make the 800-850 for 06. Acura somehow managed to sell the NSX through last year. So I suppose Lexus could sell a couple of these... Not many, and no way I'd ever buy one.
