I'm getting kinda sick of all the badly-rebuilt Q-jets I've been getting from the major auto parts stores. I've received them with missing parts, a badly bent float, incorrect fittings, you name it. I realize I have to tweak a new carb but I've bad a lot of trouble with those from Champion and Tomco.

I'm thinking about trying the Holley 4175, which Holley bills as a 'quadrajet replacement'. I really want the ease-of-service I enjoyed with Holleys in the past, but never tried the 4175. Has anyone tried this carb?

My big concerns are:

Physical dimensions - it's gotta fit a stock 68 472 with AC and a stock intake.
Dial-in - is it going to be tough to tune the carb once I get it installed?
Choke - not going to be able to use the intake-mounted choke. Is it pretty easy to change to the electric?Mike

Holleys are generally the easiest carbs to tune, no surprise they're very popular... It should be quite easy to switch to an electric choke.

The physical fitment with the AC compressor might be an issue.

All in all I'd just get a Quadrajet rebuilt by a good company. I know JET is a company that I've heard good things about, but you'd have to get opinions (and contact info for that matter) from other people first.
