hello everyone, my name is sandy and i just bought a 07 escalade, its black with black interior and i absolutely LOVE it,

i don't fit the demographic for escalade buyers at all, i'm just a middleclass mom with 2 kids, i am a teacher and my husband is in construction,

in 2004 i bought at 2002 ford explorer and i had it for about 6 months, then i decided since we were overun with bills that i would sell the explorer and opt for something that was paid off for a year and a half (to get some bills payed down) so i bought a 1997 toyota 4-runner and drove it up until today flawlessly,

we have paid off my husbands truck (green chevy silverado 2003) and our house, and all of our college loans and things like that, SO anyways.

today was just a normal day until my son (a car nut) asked if we could go to the bookstore (odd he hates reading (hes 14) so i say ok and we get in the car and head towards the bookstore, after about 10 minuets on the road hes like, o can we stop at cadillac real quick i just want to see something, and i say ok so we go to cadillac and he was looking at all of the dts,cts-v,sts all those then he comes back to the car and asks me to come into the showroom with him to see the new slade,

i say ok, and we get out and go inside and the minuet i walk in i see a brand new escalade (black) (mine) sitting on the floor. the chrome is gorgeous,

so then my son is checking it out and im just standing there looking around and then hes like OMG mom this is SO awesome!!!, and im like cool, then hes like sit in it, so i do and i get in and start looking around and OMG everything is soo precise.

SO after about 5 minuets a salesman came over (at least they waited to jump) and started talking to me about hp figures and everything, and im like O 403 hp that must be like 2 mpg right??

and hes like no more like 18-20 (my jaw dropped) so i say ok cool what about financing and he said 3.9% (mouth drops open again) and im like can i scheduel a test drive??

and then hes like yea i will be right back let me go get my appt. book, so we wait a few minuets and next thing you know he comes back with the key!!!!
(gorgeous by the way)

and im like ok how do we get it out of here? and hes like oh you can drive it out, and im like ok? so i started it up (so loud and commanding) and drove it outside, then i wait like 2 minuets with it running for him to go get his coat and close the doors and everything, (i play with the navi and stuff, (power hatch) so he comes out and gets in and i turn and run into a HUGE pothole i dont even see, woops i didnt even feel it!, so while we are waiting to make it out into traffic hes like oo thats an open spot go!! and im like well does it have enough power?? to make it

and hes like idk lets find out, so i FLOOR it and OMG my head flew back and VROOOM hear a little shreik from the tires and off we go, the first thing i notice is the sound buffering its so quiet, so i take it onto the highway and have ABSOLUTELY no problem getting to 75 (fast) :) so we get off on one of those circular ramps and i was really moving and felt absolutely minimal bodyroll, i loved it, so we get back to the lot and theres a guy there waiting to take a test drive, and i walk by him and tell him its a ball to drive, so he gets in and i can feel the tears welling up as he drives away and i look over at his mercedes cls :rant2:

so anyways we get back inside and my salesman (mark) is like what do you think, I WANT IT i said and he laughed, hes like ok then do you want to sign some papers or call your husband or what?

and so i called my husband and he came down and cosigned with me and now it is sitting in my garage next to our shelby cobra (kit car)
and when my husband goes grocery shopping in about and hour will be his first time driving it!

o by the way msrp was

66,110 (cringe)
with 3.10% financing

AND I LOVE IT!!!!! EVEN THOUGH IM GOING TO HAVE A CAR PAYMENT FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!!!

Very, very cool:thumbsup:

My mother will probably never hit "Escalade level" and is still in love with her '04 Suburban, but apparently as soon as she saw the first of the '07s on the road recently (even though I had shown pics back in October and before), it turned into "WOW! I want one!"

Then became, on the way home from picking me up at college Friday (Spring Break): "When do the Suburbans come out? What about the Yukon XL's? What else have they changed?", etc., etc. If the '04 was paid off, I know she'd be down at the dealer tomorrow ordering one...

But you, gosh, signing the papers for a $66k ride right on the spot! Just make sure to keep it PRISTINE and driven cautiously, and that you are more careful with the black paint and interior than anything you've ever had before...NO automatic car washes or even quick driveway wash jobs:tisk:

CONGRATS! Now, if I could just get myself a new White Diamond one...hmm...

Wow. What a experience you just had. Have you settled for MSRP? Gosh, I wonder what the payments on it.

i did settle for msrp, and i felt if i waited or tried to haggle they would have sold it to the man who test drove it after me, my payments are just over 1k a month because my trade in value was EXTREMELY small and i only made a $3,500 down payment, but im extremely happy and now that we dont have many bills it balances out

oh and about pics, i will have some soon but my digi cam is overloaded with pictures right now so once i get the chance to delete some and get the escalade outside (when i can actually get it loooking nice) i will snap some pictures!!

oh and one more thing, about the carwashes i will not take it through any of those carwashes with the tracks because i dont want scratched rims, but there is this new hand wash one right down the street that if i go to it i will try it with my husbands truck first

:welcome: and congratulations on the new Escalade. It really shows what a little test drive can do. Haha. You were almost ready to cry as the other man drove away for the test drive. That is what I would call love at first sight. I think you should thank your son and buy him a new toy or something. He deserves it. Anyways, as stated before, please post some pictures as soon as you can.

Thanks.

Welcome to the Club! I have the same combination--black on black--always classy! Yes, it is an awesome truck! Cadillac really did their homework this time on what buyers really want. I think the '07 'lade has really what it takes now to seriously contend with the likes of Lexus, Infiniti, Land Rover, etc. This is my first Caddy and first time owning a large SUV--actually I'm leasing---I don't believe in buying cars (bad investments).

Hey Pete,

If you don't mind me asking, can you give some ballpark figure on 07 lease? I spoke to 1 car salesman and the monthly payment came out to about $1000 for ~$58,000 price with $5000 down (36 months /w 12K miles). Seems a bit high to me, maybe he's pulling my leg. lol....

Thanks

It all depends on what your credit rating is and what you can negotiate into the lease. My Escalade came out to just under $67K. My monthly payment is $1055 (36 months/12K miles a year) and I put down $1700 (includes first month's payment). It's crazy to put down a large amount of money as down payment on a lease---you're not putting any equity into a lease and that money is good as gone.

I always thought buying cars are a good idea. Maybe leasing is a good way to go if you don't plan to keep the car too long.

Buying is ok if you plan on keeping your car at least 7-10 years and plan on maintaining it well. I lease all my cars mainly because of tax benefits (I'm incorporated) and also due to the fact that cars are bad investments---actually they are not investments at all---and I also love driving new cars every few years. To me, purchasing a $60K+ car is just insane--you lose at least 20% of the value in depreciation in the first couple years.......now buying $60K+ in real estate usually makes good sense.:)

yea, i agree but i hope that the escalade is still in high demand when i sell it in about a year and a half or so, then i might lease another one

The way the new Escalade is designed and built, I have no doubt it will be in demand. :)

:yeah: :yeah: It just sounds too drawn out and like a commercial. I too saw the new Lade this past weekend and though it was nice, it was a little odd looking. The front end does'nt cover the front tires at the bottom which makes the front kinda bubble outward, also the running boards have a less built in looks and looks more like an after market item. It's still a nice truck by any means and I am still a fan but just a couple of things that I noticed.

That sounds a little high. I just bought an '07 MSRP 66,110 for about $1000 over invoice and my payment is $1054 (36m/15k). There's another thread on here that mentions a dealer in CA for a very good price.

Good luck.

Are the interest rates negotiable on leases?
