The day before I picked up my car I was driving behind a black ATS with a spoiler and really liked. I placed the order on Monday the 23rd and it showed up on my doorstep today. If you are counting that is four days from order to being delivered at my house. Yes it is painted to the color of my car (thunder gray). I learned Kevlava is the same as thunder gray.
I looked around last weekend and saw varying prices from $109-$400+. I was going to order from Carid but decided to give this one a try. The spoiler is plastic so it is not rigid like fiberglass and has a slight flex. Fitment is 100% perfect, and I'm assuming it's an exact copy of oem. The paint job is excellent. I could not find a single imperfection anywhere in the paint or clear coat. I'm still trying to figure out how I was able to get a spoiler painted and delivered to my house for $109
It came with hardware to drill into my car. There is no way I'm drilling into such an expensive car, so I bought a roll of 3m tape instead. I outlined it and ran a piece down the middle and it's solid as a rock. For those who think tape wont hold a spoiler, you would be pleasantly surprised. This is the third spoiler I've installed and never had a problem with tape.
Here's a crappy photo until I can clear the car up.
I think I like that, can you take a picture more from the side?
x2 on the 3M tape, I installed a GM factory lip spoiler on my wife's old 2010 Malibu right after we purchased it. Sold the car 4 years later with 90k miles and the spoiler was still on just as tight as day 1. I would hate to have had to take it off!
My car was going to get detailed tomorrow, but my shipment from Amazon was delayed until Tuesday due to weather. I bought a DA polisher, light polish to get rid of the swirls, clay kit, buckets, grit guards, and a few other things. I will get some pictures up after my car is cleaned up. It's the same as oem so the photos you can find on Google will be the same if you're trying to decide. I feel you can't go wrong for $109.
Its a great spoiler, got mine a year ago and paint still looks great. As for attaching it to my car, I'm sure tape works forever but, I don't attach things to the outside of my car using just tape. Its just my personal preference to install items based on the instructions, materials supplied, and recommendations from the manufacturer and I sleep better knowing its screwed on. Again, that's just my preference and there are loads of people who just tape it on but knowing my luck, I will get a defective batch of tape or have not put it on right ad it will come off while Im going down the highway.
I put an abs spoiler on my old srt-4 back in 2005 with just 3m tape along the edges. A couple years later the car was hit so I removed the entire decklid. I tried to remove the spoiler with fishing line but was unsuccessful. I had to sell the entire decklid with the spoiler because I was not able to remove it. I was using 20lb test monofilament too.
I doubt you can get a bad batch. My first attempt I put the corner down but needed to readjust and it was a pain just removing a very small corner. Nothing will take this spoiler off. In fact I tried to pry up a corner and couldn't do it. You definitely have more stones than me. I could not drill into this car.
BTW, along with some additional pics of the spoiler, could you get some of the car too? I have the Thunder Gray Chromaflair and would like to know what tint and percent you went with on your car? Going in for tint in two weeks. Thanks!!!
18% on all sides and 5% in the rear. It's pretty dark, but it looks different based on the light outside. On cloudy days the windows look black. On sunny days you can see inside just a little bit. I detailed the car yesterday but we got rain today. I will snap a few tomorrow. It should be 75 degrees here and hopefully no rain.
I just ordered one for my car in Opulent Blue Metallic since yours looked so good.
My Dad taught me an old adage, measure twice, cut once. Drilling is not a big deal. Measure THRICE, drill once.
I installed a carbon fiber ZR1 spoiler on my C6 and had to drill four holes. If my wife had snuck up behind me and yelled boo, I probably would have shit my pants. Measured it three times, used the template, triple checked everything then did the deed. I was ecstatic when I got done. Smoked two cigarettes afterwards to calm down.
My wife laughed her butt off. My son kept asking, Dad are you SURE this is right, drilling holes in YOUR Corvette? I can tell you that didn't help one bloody bit.
arent u guys concerned about corrosion or rust? id imagine drilling gives you that risk in the long run. im sure you can put a little paint on the exposed metal parts but the risk of it rubbing off during installation, or things like that is still there. thats my biggest concern really.
I would hope others that drilled, properly treated the drill holes before installing the spoiler. I know I cleaned the holes after drilling and then applied sealant coat to the top and bottom of the holes.
I'm glad I didn't drill in the car still. The tape is ridiculously strong and wont ever come off. If anyone lives in Raleigh you are welcome to try and get mine off if it helps to ease your fears.

3m tape from the auto parts store. I cleaned the area with rubbing alcohol and applied it. It was a little cold that night in my garage so I used a heat gun to warm the metal a little bit.
Here's the spoiler - the only thing there was a slight blemish but it was on the underside of the spoiler so no worries. I used 3M tape only, the underside of the spoiler was literally covered in 3M tape. What I did was position the spoiler, used masking tape making reference marks, covered the underside with the 3M tape, removed all the backings, covered the tape with wax paper remembering to fold the inner side of the paper along the inside edge of the spoiler. Line up the marks and carefully start peeling the wax paper to the rear of the car. Applied pressure to the front of the spoiler as the tape became uncovered. Took about 15 minutes total.
This thing is super strong! Be careful when using it as it bonds almost instantly.
A few tips:
- Use a little water so you can move the spoiler around until you have it in place.
- Use alcohol to clean the area. Make sure you use a microfiber cloth not paper towels (I made that mistake).
- Remove the old tape the spoiler comes with.
- I did it in direct sunlight so that the surface was warm.
- Check and double check your positioning because once this thing holds, it's over. It's never coming off!!
Well, well, well.... look what the Brown truck dropped off.
Proper paint code too
Unboxed
Now for the install... Lots of test fitting. I used a piece of painters tape to mark the center of the spoiler to the center of the tail light for alignment.
Note - Check to see if the cushion tape and the 3M molding tape are the same thickness before you lay any tape down.
1) First wipe down the backside of the spoiler with alcohol. Then I add the provided foam cushion tape to corners and across the back of the spoiler that makes contact with the tail light.
2) Next lay down the 3M tape to the front edge of the spoiler. It has to be done in 2 pieces due to the angle to the spoiler.
3) Next use some cleaner to take the wax off the area where spoiler meets the trunk lid. Also wipe the area down with a touch of alcohol.
4) If your brave you can install the spoiler without using wax paper to properly position it. Once you remove the wax paper that's it. It is on a probably will remove the paint if pulled off.
Finished
Is it perfect in all respects.... probably not. But, it is pretty dang close. Had I bought the GM version and had a body shop install it I would probably had $500 or more into it and it would not have looked any better. Anytime you try to match paint after the fact it is a crap shoot.
Isn't it crazy you can buy a painted and shipped spoiler for $109? The paint on mine was 99.9% perfect. Mine had one very small imperfection, but it's very hard to notice.
I can't remember where I saw this, but I believe the 2015 coupe has no matching panels to the 2014 Sedan except the hood.
