View Full Version : Just my thoughts on the 2007 Spittin Game 03-04-06, 07:40 PM So we were downtown today and were right by rickenbaugh caddy, so we stopped in.
The black with factory 22's is VERY nice looking! The 22's actually look very nice in person. The white and maroon are absolutley horrid looking IMO. It does seem like its more "sleek", and it didnt look as tall or wide, but according to the sales lady it is wider and taller (not by much at all).
The interior in black is SEXY!!! But the seats definitely are not as comfortable. The dash area where the odometer is is friggen cool looking when on. Overall the interior is pretty nice looking. The power lift gate is nice too.
Overall, the black with factory 22's is HOT, the others were "ehh" at best. I wont be trading mine in anytime soon for the 07, atleast until I see the EXT. And she is gonna give me a call when those come in. I got a brochure with all the color options and interior stuff too. I dont think the pics do them justice. did she say if the ext will have a power rear window like the sut h2? Spittin Game 03-04-06, 07:48 PM she didnt say. They dont even know the month they will get em, just that they will come sometime in summer. And if I wanted one, to pre order, cause just like these they wont be getting many at first. she didnt say. they said the same about my 02 ext. If you really want it just contact davesmith.com This guy gets the most inventory and had my ext when no one else had them Falkolade 03-04-06, 07:53 PM my thoughts... dealer called me to let me know they had an 07 in stock similar to the one i ordered so i went too look at it... black raven with the cashmere cocoa interior... first off the 22's are hot... the inside now... the wood is way to dark for the light color interior, the grain on the dashboard is just plain tacky, the steering wheel looks hot, but it feels sooo cheap... after all the praise i have heard of the 07 i honestly think it's way over-rated... and i have to say come monday i am 97% sure i will cancel my 07 order, and just purchase an extended warranty for my 02... as i have seen in the forums a lot lately... the 2002 are the best, and i think the 2007 is over rated and loaded up with cheap plastic chrome! if i wanted a 2007 suv with shock value... it would be the new 2007 benz gl class... 07 doesn't have the shock the 02 did when it hit the streets... sorry but think i'd rather rock an 02 with 48k miles, than have an 07 thats lame... just my opinon not meaning to offend anyone that has or will have an 07 the 2002 are the best, and i think the 2007 is over rated and loaded up with cheap plastic chrome!
FINALLY someone agrees with me! too much plastic chrome, just like the current escalade when people put those side chrome mirrors or completely chrome door handles. plastic chrome scratches waaay too easily!
the rear plastic liftgate handle on the 07 is going to look really bad after a few months of washing js73751 03-05-06, 11:09 AM quote: Just went to my dealer today and saw the new Escalade. Made a deal to get one of the last 2006 EXTs to replace my 2003. I want a truck that looks like a truck. The interior is beautiful on the 07 but the exterior just leaves me cold. I know that with all the improvements the 07 will be a great vehicle. Too bad they made it so soft looking.
Picked up my 06 Raven Black EXT on Thursday. I could not be happier with my choice Thought I was the only one that did not appreciate the "glitzing up"of the new Escalade. While I am certain they will sell everyone they can build, I think they may have alienated those looking for a luxury TRUCK. With the above in mind, perhaps that will give me an excuse to black-chrome the handle when it gets scratched. I still wish GM never came up with that ugly chrome piece. Falkolade 03-05-06, 07:10 PM hmmm... 07 just doesn't do it for me... just b/c its new and its supposed to be better doesn't mean it will be... beauty is in the eye of the beholder jrs05caddyext 03-05-06, 11:36 PM Agree Sta11ion 03-06-06, 07:10 AM 07 = 05 navigator, Keep it Still waiting for my 07' to come in, but my dealer had a silver 07' that they gave me for the weekend, it had everything except 22's, the dark interior in nice, I am glad I changed mine from tan to black, the 07' rides so much better than my 03', no comparision, the interior is much nicer, no comparision, I found the seats pretty much the same as my 03' in terms of comfort. In my opinion is does not look as cheap as the present model with all the plastic bolted on which makes the fit better, just hope my new one is as good as my 03' is/was. :) PeteESC07 03-06-06, 10:14 AM hmmm... 07 just doesn't do it for me... just b/c its new and its supposed to be better doesn't mean it will be... beauty is in the eye of the beholder
The '07 is not "supposed" to be better....it IS better... on every level.....the '07 is totally on another class than all previous models: better power, better ride, better handling, better fitting materials, and much more luxury and technology. IMO, the previous models look dated and too "GMC truck"-like compared to the '07, which now looks like it can compete very strongly against anything coming out of Lexus, Acura, Infiniti or Land Rover. jrs05caddyext 03-06-06, 10:23 AM I’ve seen a couple around town and they still look like Expeditions from the side. Have to admit the interior is nice. Bigplay 03-06-06, 11:10 AM which now looks like it can compete very strongly against anything coming out of Lexus, Acura, Infiniti or Land Rover.
I say look at the 02 sales it competes well against the others now and will continue 2 do so. That's EXACTLY what I think, whever I see an Escalade with the chomed out door handles and gas cap I just cringe, there is such a thing as too much chrome.
And what is with this "bolted on plastic" crap? I've never thought the finish of the side panels on the current model Escalade look like crap or tacky, in fact I think it's what makes the old model Escalade look so burly and the new one look like a damn minivan. so true!!! the panels on 02-06 made the truck... and i did cancel my order for my 07 today, i just can't bring myself to buy a truck i do not love... i just have a love for my 02, the 07 just doesn't do it for me... no shock value like when the 02 hit the streets... the average person wouldn't even know its a new escalade... PeteESC07 03-06-06, 12:40 PM I say look at the 02 sales it competes well against the others now and will continue 2 do so.
So, the Camry and Accord sold extremely well annually....does that make it compete in the same league as Lexus or Acura or Mercedes? I'm not talking about just sales numbers. The '07 not only has the technology but the refinement and quality befitting a $60K+ vehicle to compete strongly against the best that other luxury brands has to offer. I'm not sure what you mean by "shock value"........everywhere I go, I see other drivers straining their necks to see my truck......and I'm getting rave compliments all the time by other SUV and Escalade owners........To me the previous Escalades look dated and ancient compared to the '07......IMO, you can't tell the previous model from any other Denali or Yukon or Suburban on the street. In reality, the '07's styling isn't all that different from the '06.....it's just more updated to keep it similar to the CTS and STS line........and as for the interior, it's world-class all the way. My 03' looks nice, but all the lower panels look like they were added on from a J.C. Whitney catalog, of course they fit very well but look like an after thought. Most places I stopped with the 07' this weekend there were people looking at it and asking me about it. this is the first time Ive ever heard anyone say that. Put the Lade up next to a tahoe or even a denali and you will see a difference. I have heard dressed up denali/tahoe/yukon, but never that you couldnt tell a difference.
The 07 is very different than the 06. But, from what your saying the 07 isnt much different then it could be mistaken for a denali. Which is not true.
Maybe a ford though. :nyanya: Kappa-Lac 03-06-06, 03:20 PM I see this type of debate spark every time a "new" model of an existing product is released. It doesn’t matter what the product is, from cell phones, to video game consoles or Escalades, people will always debate which is better, the new or the old…….
But I am here to keep it real........
Why did most of us buy escalades?????
Beacuse from 2002 to the current 2006 model, it is been the top of the line American made "it" SUV. It also shows that you have a little taste, style, and YES it shows that you have some money! Also the escalade separates you from those Tahoe, Yukon, Avalanche, and Denali drivers on the road. Personally I think the 2002-2006 models do have some advantages over the 2007 truck, but with all of the 2007’s list of standard/optional equipment, as well as the improvements in ride technology, I think the 2007 is a better overall choice that the current models.
I currently have a 2004 ESV Platinum with 45k miles on it, and YES I will be getting a 2007 with all of the options I can get. There is nothing wrong with my truck except one thing.......
Everywhere I look I see the same DAMN Escalade around every corner!!! This body style has been out for 5 years now and because of it's popularity every one wants one. So it doesn’t matter if it is a 2002 with 200k miles on it, people who can’t afford a “new” escalade are buying them for the "status" an escalade brings.
Now you take the 2007, it brings a new look and style and above all else, it brings new level of exclusivity to escalade owners. Heads will once again turn for a new 2007 with a factory set up because it is new and exclusive! Heads only turn for a 2002-2006 escalade only if you have a chrome grille, 22"+ rims or a crazy paint job or a loud sound system!
People know how much a 2007 costs, and there are no used ones out, so if you see one you know the owner paid some serious cheese for it.
Talk all you want, and make all of the comparisons you want between the old and new escalade, the new truck will be the Sh!t because every one wont have one.
That’s my $0.02

I was implying that it was more of a "evolutionary" design than a "revolutionary" one.......more in line now with the CTS and STS "look".......a Ford?!.....whatever it is you're smoking, it isn't helping your vision.:tease: PeteESC07 03-06-06, 04:28 PM but not everyone can afford the gas
People in the market for $50K-$60K vehicles CAN afford the gas......it's the INCONVENIENCE of going to the gas station frequently that gives them the pause. Adjusted for inflation, gas is cheaper now than 20 or 30 years ago. I'm still snappin necks with my 99... but I will be looking at a test drive of the newbie even if I won't be buying one new.:) People in the market for $50K-$60K vehicles CAN afford the gas......it's the INCONVENIENCE of going to the gas station frequently that gives them the pause. he said that everyone can now afford the used 02-06 models now and that is why there are a lot, i said that not everyone can afford the gas though, so maybe you will not see them as much.
the lower income person that puts all their money into buying a used escalade, from a rich person, may not drive it all because of gas prices. 05 Cadillac Escalade 03-06-06, 07:14 PM he said that everyone can now afford the used 02-06 models now and that is why there are a lot, i said that not everyone can afford the gas though, so maybe you will not see them as much.

I agree with you completely Fast66. You do see way too many 02+ Escalade's on the road though.
Thanks. too much plastic chrome

My mom has a Bentley Flying Spur and my dad's is coming in later this week with the newer upgrades such as the larger rims and the Mulliner package. I don't think the grille looks bad at all. In my opinion, it is an awesome car and is ridiculously fast.
Thanks. I meant to say that more and more cars are using plastic for grilles. 05 Cadillac Escalade 03-06-06, 07:34 PM Oh. I agree with that. It isn't that the plastic looks bad as I already said, but I wonder why. Why are the car companies, especially Bentley, which is supposed to be the top of the line, using plastic instead?
Thanks. Falkolade 03-06-06, 07:45 PM hmmm... the steering wheel in the 07 looks hot in pics... did you ever feel it in person? hah... its a joke... the wood ring around it feels like it was stuck on by a first grader with a tube of elmers... it doesn't feel classy... i dunno, maybe in time the 07 will grow on me... at first in pics i loved the truck... now in person i think its weak PeteESC07 03-06-06, 08:51 PM Oh. Many luxury car makers these days are using plasticized chrome--BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Acura, Infiniti--it's much cheaper than using real chrome and saves a ton of weight, not to mention the cost of replacing it if it's damaged. Amen to that.......prior to taking delivery of my '07, I test drove the '06 model and the difference was like Night and Day......not only can you feel the additional power off the line and during passing in the '07 but the steering is quicker and much more precise......ride quality is also much better and more controlled in the '07 and the cabin is as solid as a vault......and the interior design and execution stacks up against the very best from Lexus, Audi or Mercedes... ..I have yet to see an American-made vehicle this well engineered and put together......Bravo Cadillac!
