: Two Mod Question

I finally have the budget (4K) to do my first performance mods.

Mod 1: Kooks headers with Corsa out the back. Question: How many hours of labor should I expect to pay for this install?

Mod 2: There has been many debates here regarding CAI packages. Is there any concensus amoung members on the best product out there? I am sure my V will be crying for large bursts of cold air once the headers and CORSA are finished.

Thanxs Gents!!! Down into the abyss of Mods, God help me!:bighead:

Cai, just do the modded stock airbox/tubing to get some more air along with the K&N drop in filter. I hear it is as good as any of the kits being sold.

agree with that. do the home-made MAF-back tube with a K&N.
Headers and exhaust? took me 8 hours. a pro? maybe 4

I am going to do a dyno after these mods with a StealthV tune and see what she's doing RWHP wise. Also curious to see if my diff starts giving me problems over the next few months before the maggie is bolted on.

1) Corsa took me just about 3 hrs, but a pro would take 1-1/2 hrs TOPS! I'll let you know in a few weeks about the Kooks (if you can wait that long).

2) I've got a Volant CAI with a few thousand miles on it for sale ... PM me if interested.:)

none
its a 20 second job. 2 or 3 bolts i think.
adding a home-brewed maf-back won't add even 1 hour.

there's been debate about removing the "snorkel" on the stock box....and that is a bit more difficult. But for fear of rain ingestion i wouldn't do it.

I agree - I left the snorkel stock set-up as is even though it is a convoluted arrangement. 'Till I find out more why the stock design is as is, I am leaving it alone.

That's cheating. :want:

Your supposed to dive right in with open wallet.

Almost as much fun as standing in the middle of the street setting dollar bills on fire. :alchi: :alchi:

When you install the stuff (are you doing yourself?) be sure about how the header mates up to the Corsa.

i'm sure he means his current 4, plus 1 = 5
but he'll still need an exhaust for the "sounds better than stock" thing

Urb,

What do you mean "sounds better than stock" thing?

HeavyMetals

I am going to have the shop install the headers and exhaust. I do not trust myself to tackle this.

any aftermarket exhaust is gonna sound better than stock :)
but wont net you a world of HP difference
until you do headers, tune, intake.
