Really.... I had my 94 eldorado in the BODY shop because a drunk hit me in the parking lot. Anyway the body man said he pulled it out of the garage to wash it and he noticed smoke from under the hood. He opened the hood and saw sparks or flame, and since he just happened to have the hose on he sprayed it. It melted the spark plug wires. I don't know what caused the fire. Well I changed the wires, plugs, fuel filter, air filter, and pcv. Now the service vehicle soon light stays on and I have codes P036, P040, A011 plus I am only getting about 10mpg! I have spent so much money on this car in the 3 years I have had it I'm about ready to dump it. It looks really good now though with the new paint job! Can anybody give me some advice please?? :cookoo:

po36 = EGR valve pintle position out of range
po40 = Power steering Pressure switch open
a011 = High Side Temperature Sensor Circuit
sounds like you had quite a fire , wonder what caused it ? sounds like it came from around the drivers side of the rear valve cover
Thanks I found the codes. Yes it was on the driver's side. I called my caddy dealer, he said I need a decarb job on the P036 code at a cost of appx $500.00!! Any ideas on how to decarb and clean the EGR myself?

$500?! You unbolt it, spray some solvent on it, and put it back. Hmm... I gotta get a job at a dealer... When you do this, make sure you hold the EGR valve upright as you spray, or else the carbureator cleaner will run up into the very expensive electronic EGR valve. With it off, check the passages that it connects to, these can accumulate carbon too, and it would not be fun to clean it, put it back, and have another piece of carbon get stuck in it. When you are done, make sure it moves freely, and closes completely.
