A friend of mine has a 1992 ETC with the 4.9, and I noticed that his car has dual exhausts, with dual tips, which looks and sounds really cool. Is it possible to have this system on a 91-93 deVille or Fleetwood?

The thing to remeber is what the computer will think about it. Since our cars a little older, I would say why not. Of course I would just take the cosmetic approach and see if from the joint were the two exhaust manifolds combine to the single exhaust pipe, if his ETC has a splitter or something because then you are talking about what may amount to a simple bold on. Otherwise, if it is two seperate pipes comming from the manifolds seperately on the ETC, then you may have some more work involved since you are probably dealing with dual Oxygen sensors and what else. I have stuck to Deville's and Fleetwoods, so I don't know too much about the ETC Tombo47 02-28-06, 01:15 PM you can do it, even if you have to do aftermarket. Try Corsa, sounds amazing. Alot of Caddy people also will use Magnaflow. I really love the way the 4.9 sounds when its allowed to breathe properly. I had a 92 eldo with that motor. You can try going to meineke and they will tell you if they can bend the pipes for you. I hope it works out, post a sound clip and a pic if it does. 93 CDV would look awsome with dual tips. I~LUV~Caddys8792 02-28-06, 01:48 PM My coworker has a beige 91 CDV with dual tips.. I want to use the stock system, because that is actually a bit louder than the deville/Fleetwood system, and I think an aftermarket kit may be a bit too much on a Caddy, just me though. Tombo47 02-28-06, 04:04 PM yea an aftermarket will be noise, but you can also get an aftermarket for better flow but sitll get a quieter muffler, know what im saying? youll even get some Hp out of the deal Night Wolf 02-28-06, 05:19 PM The thing many people don't realize is... the Eldorado has cut outs in the bumper for the tail pipes... they fit in there perfect and look really cool. These DeVille's don't have that, just the plain chrome bumper.... so the quad eliptical tips under that won't look good IMO. The muffler I am going to get is an Edelbrock #5519.... just waiting for the stocker to crap out.... well, actually waiting on having the money around to do it. I still would like to go 80's G-body style with the exhaust... dual outlet muffler, 1 tip exiting at an angle behind the rear wheels... nothing obtrusive, and kinda tucked back... but it'll be there. DaveSmed 02-28-06, 05:39 PM With the aftermarket mufflers being too loud, why dont you try getting a stock Camaro muffler? You can get one for practically free if you get one from the junkyard, then see how you like the sound. If you like it and the muffler is still in reasonable shape, great! If not, now you know what to shop for. chuckdobbins 02-28-06, 09:28 PM a stock camaro ss muffler will do the trick...if you want louder, edelbrock rpm series or a magnaflow. just pick up a pair of chrome slant cut tips too, and you may need a foot or so of piping...but if you get it done in a shop they can help with the extra pipes. you wont be disappointed. it looks amazing. dont believe me? behold my now deceased 1990 sdv (http://www.cardomain.com/id/chuckdobbins). I~LUV~Caddys8792 03-01-06, 01:17 AM Yeah I never thought of that...a Camaro SS muffler on my car.... I remember reading in the catalogs that the Camaros and deVilles both have the transverse application. I would do it, but I just got a new muffler on it last summer. | |
