I own a 2005 Cadillac Deville with 44,000 miles. The car has the tendency to stall occassionally. I will be driving and it will just stall out. It would start back up and I could drive again. Today it stall I started it but it kept stalling. It kept stalling about five five when I was in a parking lot. Finally it stayed started and I was able to drive off. Also. the check engine light stays on. Other than that, I have no problems with the vehicle. If anyone could provide an answer to this problem it would be deeply appreciated.

Is this car not under warranty? It sounds like you have a problem with your crankshaft position sensors. Because its a 2005, you need a scan tool to access your codes. 2003 was the last year for GM on board dianostics. Unless I am wrong, someone please chime in here. Unless its under warranty, the only other solution is to take it to a person with a scan tool and have them tell you what the code is. If it is crankshaft position sensors, they are not that expensive to replace, about 200 dollars, including labor, good luck.

I'm sorry my vehicle is a 2000, not a 2005.

Crankshaft sensors very likely the cause of stalling. On my 2000 SLS they have been replaced three times - Jan 00 at 11575, Nov 01 at 34415 and Aug 04 at 49175 miles.

Oh thats Ok Karlp, we all like to think we drive newer cars, LOL, lucky for you, that means you can check your codes, if it is Crankshaft position Sensors, and believe me, the smart money is on that, they will come up under your PCM computer in the codes section.

Happy Hunting

Been down that road, crank shaft sensors replaced TB cleaned, still stalled, after repeated requests to check out the FUEL PUMP, which always showed OK on Dias. tests, it was looked at by a independent repairman - wiring schorched- replaced FP end of stalling.

also check your Idle Control Motor (ICM). is it idling low? Mine was replace a couple weeks ago, car started stalling due to RPM loss. It happened when i was getting into my car from autobarn acctually, so iw ent across the street to my mechanic and ti was fixed in an hr.

Crankshaft sensors? Which ones, or both? What about camshaft sensor? My 2000 Deville is doing the same thing. What's this about the ICM? What is considered low idle? I have a scanner and the timing seems to jump around at idle, quite a bit. Any ideas? Thanks!
