i have a 2000 catera im new to this sight and have owned it a month. I was wondering i read out of the manuel the they suggest that you replace the timeing belt after 100K but i do a search and some people say 75kish. does anyone know the safe amount of miles to get it changed, advice weis? I dont want to have to rebuild or replace the motor over this. It has 58xxx on it now.

According to this item:

http://www.aa1car.com/library/2004/us90410.htm

the change interval is 60,000 miles.

But bear in mind a failed belt means the end of your engine.

And the belt does not have to break for a catastrophe to ensue. If the belt merely slips a few teeth it can be the end. Remember, the Catera engine is an interference engine.
