Anyways welcome. integline 02-26-06, 05:05 AM those leds are very cool. Varad makes produts like those. toneman 02-26-06, 12:37 PM Thanks for the welcomes and compliments!
The rear vent cap LEDs function both as taillights and brake lights--i.e., they get brighter when the brakes are applied.
blingblingcv--not yet...and I reckon I shouldn't get any smack from the LEOs since they're red instead of some other "pull-me-over" color like blue or white. I'm new here too. Just bought a 2005 Escalade (262 miles) for 40K toneman 02-27-06, 02:21 PM Yeah, some of it could be considered "ghetto" (to each his/her own, right?)...but IMHO I don't think the LEDs on the running board (not the LOF right above it, but the 5 LEDs below it) are ghetto--it's not that much different from trucks that have running lights along the side and/or top, or side marker lights on cars. Now if those LEDs were say, red, blue, pink, or some other non-neutral color...then okay, I would call ghetto too! I don't have a daytime pic of it (or of the Esky emblem in the doorsill--sorry about that, will get some pics), but each of those 5 LEDs have a chrome surround that seamless blends in with the chrome on the running board.
The LED door handles are custom--one 1/2-watt LED in each door handle pocket/well/whatever you call them. Need to drill a small hole just right so that the LED can be flush-mounted; otherwise you might wind up either drilling too deep a hole, or ruining the area right around the hole. I like those a lot too, where did they come from? toneman 03-01-06, 06:55 PM I like those a lot too, where did they come from?
I bought them from my brother--he owns a tint/accessory shop.
More info regarding the door sill--they are brushed stainless steel; chrome would not be a good choice for these because they would get scratched up in no time. Backlighting is EL (Indiglo, in layman's terms), and is available in either blue (pictured--and yes, it is a light blue in that pic...I suck at taking night photos) or red. They cost me $450 for the set of 4 sills; if you prefer red, they go for $500. Don't ask me why red costs more--I'm not the one who makes/sells them.
FWIW--Varad may indeed make LEDS like the ones pictured in the running boards, but AFAICT they do not currently offer anything similar to the ones pictured in the vent caps; those are not the LED ropes, strips, or bulky lightbars most people are familiar with. That, and the fact that my bro had to fabricate a harness that would seamlessly tap into the taillight harness so that they can function as parking/brake lights. | |
