First take it elsewhere to be checked out. It's worth the price of a used replacement engine, 50-60K mile engine for $2000 or less is often available. when buying a used engine see the car if you can, and if not, get the vin number and examine everything to make sure. Devilles and Sevilles have a few differences in some of the bolt ons to the engine in that style. Just do anything you can to catch them in a lie. If all is good, buy it.

I have seen N* motors on E-bay before. Maybe check that out and clean up the deville untill you find one. By the time it is ready you will have a new car. I love my girl dearly, but I would never leave here the Cadillac when I am gone.
4.9 or Northstar? As mentioned, you may find a cheap one on ebay and salvage the car.
BTW, if that is your girl friend in your avatar, she can be forgiven.

True. But you may want to take a little time to educate her about what it means when red lights light, chimes chime and dire messages appear in the DIC. All of that would have to had happen if she ran out of coolant. Plus it would've been obvious (big puddle, lots of steam) when the coolant came out. You might want to indicate to her that these are 'bad' things.

hahaha. Spank that asshhhh.
If its a '94 copncrouse its a northstar. You can Salvage a northstar for cheaper than i thought lately, theres one at a motor shop by me for 1800 with 43k on it. Also maybe Ranger would know, Can you put a '00-06 FWD Northstar in his '94? Im talking the revamped version of it which i have.
No, I don't think you can or want to swap a '00 - '06 into a '94. If it is a '94 I think only a '93/'94 are compatable due to changes in '95. That said, I suppose anything is possible with enough time, money and labor.
