Whats up guys, Im pissed at the prev owners of my oo DTS because it seems like they drove the car into the sun with no roof on or something. The Wood is faded in several spot. Its msotly on the shifter and console piece. What do you recommend i do? What are some good cleaning products for wood besides pledge? Can I fix the fad somehow? Does anyone know where i can get a new console piece and shifter? I know I can try ebay but im pretty ebay illiterate. If anyone cna find me these tiems on there id really appreciate it.
-Thanks

thats the only proucts out there for wood? My car smells like a livingroom after im through with the pledge. Anyone have these same problems? And also shouldnt a shifter from a 98-04 STS also work for my DTS? Theres alot mroe wrecked STS's around than DTS
There are many other wood care products (check out local supermarket) but I have never needed to use any of them, and I don't know how SAFE they are (or are NOT) ~ for the material in your year/model Caddy. Some might be too abrasive.
As an avid carpenter/cabinetmaker, I'm afraid that all you can do right now is either strip the existing wood down, restain it and then layer multiple coats of hi-gloss lacquer OR, go to one of the aftermarket shops (many of which supply the OEMs) and replace it. If you do the latter, you'll have alot more choices in what goes into your ride - maybe a different species of wood (wouldn't a nice, light Bird's Eye Maple look terrific in there?), maybe carbon fibre, even brushed aluminum accents.
Type "Cadillac Woodash trim" into the EBAY search engine and see what comes up. I'm attaching a couple of snaps of the interior of my 1997 Sedan Deville that was redone with real wood trim, along with a swap-out of my existing steering wheel for a wood/leather one from a 2002 Eldorado.
Best of luck

yea i had noticed those pictures before when you were trying to get a wheel a while back, that looks great. All that wood is new? Im just annoyed because of all the UV damage done, and im not experienced in taking apart the trim. I have no idea how to do it.

i need to go to work now but ill post pics and show you what the fade looks like
I'm not familiar with the 2000+deville interiors, but the original trim pieces on my '97 ran along the tops of the doors and there was a strip of it on the front of the dash, although it didn't go all the way across the dash. I left them in place and the wood dash pieces were a perfect match - rosewood (as can be seen).
I think the wood on the 2000 Devilles is Zebrano? I just did a google on "cadillac wood trim" and got a load of hits. Lost of kits for your car, as well as replacement parts for the shift knob.
