Hello all.
I'm considering buying a 2005 CTS-V and browsing through this site and others to get some opinions.

A general negative theme seems to circle around the owners of 2004-V. That's not too unusual with the first-model year crowd.

What is the general consensus of MY-05 owners? Has GM solved the riddles of bushings that moan louder than a whore on Saturday night? Or the notorious axle hop? What about a permanent fix to the idiot 1-4 forced shift?

Differential: the 06 has an improved one: See the stats to see if you will really need to replace one: Http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/survey/results4.php

Bushings: Specter has the same bushings design that does not "moan like a whore"

1-4 shift: Yes, get a !CAGS from stealthV engineering.. permanently removes the 1-4 shift...

I am a 2004 owner and LOVE this car.... If you look at other surveys (http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/survey/) you will see that people are actually quite HAPPY with the car and most would buy it again.

Good luck.

2005 V here with only 2500 miles but no problems thus far. Car drives solid and I drive it hard. Love it. I wouldn't own anything else.

The negativity comes from the 05/06 V owners because they know the '04 is the fastest . . particularly the black ones. :stirpot:

Yes it is true what my friend OldRoadDawg said, 05 Stealth Gray V's are the fastest. :stirpot: :stirpot: :stirpot:

Stealth Gray!? Is GM still making V's in that color after . . well, you know!
Last one of those I saw was on the shoulder with a faded 422 on it. 11-85 driver wouldn't even tow it. :hide:

I had the pleasure of owning both. The 2004 was better. I must have been one of the luck ones. The 04 seemed to be put together with more care. It seemed tighter all around. The motor was smoother as well.
Some things I don't like as much in the 2005 are: Motor shake and ping/clunk on shut down. Front ground effects have come loose 2 times, the back once. The computer comes on with warnings far too much(headlights, seatbelts,ect.). I can grind the gears on the 2005 and it never happened on the 2004.
I think the first 2004's were better machines. Both years were Black/Black.
All that said its fun to drive and am glad I have it and will upgrade if they put in an LS-7.
