Just picked up my car. They replaced the oil pump and some misc items. Seeing a whole lot more oil pressure with the new pump versus old. At higher rpm's the car is reading 65 to 70 psi versus around 52 with the old. Idle is around 40 and normal cruising around 50. These numbers seem about right to you guys??? Repair manual only list low pressure reading and not high.

65 to 70 seems too high. I don't recall any car I've ever owned that had pressure that high....but better a lot of pressure than no pressure I guess. Most oil gages only go up to 80 psig.

I wonder if they can recalibrate those readings.Sounds pretty high.Better get Reed or Stealth involved here. You will know if those readings are correct because oils gonna leak from some where.IMO

If you figure 10psi for every 1000rpm then 65-70psi is perfect.

at WOT in my ZO6 i saw 80+ psi. sounds normal. with no load usually around 25-40. only reason i thought to add this they both are LS6s...

I have dyno tested many Z06 Vettes with the same LS6 engine. 65 to 70 is perfect at redline.

I read somewhere that anything over 35 PSI of oil pressure at any RPM is a waist of HP ??

Go figure...

Thanks guys. The tech called Cady this morning and they said it is in normal range. I just didn't want to walk out one morning and find a pool of oil underneathe the car.

I would guess that's vehicle or engine dependent, many cars (ok ones from a certain non german european country) usually hover between 70-85psi @ idle and ~110psi for redline.

I had the same problem, they replaced the oil pump and i too have seen numbers in the 70psi range, my solution was to get rid of the car which I am working on as we speak.

Hey; I brought my '05 CTS-V in to fix a leaking rear differential seal, and when I picked it up, NO oil pressure! After 2 weeks the dealer said the repalced the oil pump and all was fixed. However, when I start the car, NO oil pressure, then it builds back to about 30psi; it used to run 40-45 psi when cold. How much $$$ does it cost to replace the oil pump, as I'm thinking the dealer did NOT do it (and the car is out of warranty!).

Thanks!
